Miss Ronda Lynn Piatkowski and Dr. George Alvin Platt were united in marriage on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at half past seven o'clock in the evening at The Parador, located in the Museum District, in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Mr. Ronnie Agnew, of Lubbock Texas, the bride's youth minister. The Heights Chamber String Quartet provided music for the ceremony. A special rendition by Andrew Bocheli, titled "I'll go with you," was played as the bride and groom lit a candle of memoriam honoring the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Platt, a favorite song of the bride, groom, and groom's father. Following the ceremony and cocktail hour, a reception was held at The Pardor, with music and dancing provided by The Doppelganger Band.
The wedding festivities began on Thursday evening as the bride and groom hosted a dinner party for family members and out of town guests. Friday morning, the bride hosted a combination spa and luncheon at the Houstonian, for her bridesmaids. On the eve of the wedding, the bride's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Brennan's. On the morning of the wedding, Mrs. Joan Hughes, wife of Dr. Bobby Hughes, hosted a bridal luncheon at Rouge.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Piatkowski, of Huntsville, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dorothy Martin of Mineral Wells, Texas, and of the late Mrs. Ann Piatkowski of Detroit, Michigan. The groom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Platt, Jr. of Baytown, Texas, and stepmother Mrs. Sarah Jane Platt of Baytown, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Frederick Bender and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Platt, Sr., of Baytown and Houston, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white strapless couture gown, designed by Amsdale of New York. The fitted gown, was accented with a sweetheart neckline, and was embellished entirely with Alencon lace, featuring floor length hand beaded Swarovski crystals and pearls. The gown flowed into a caged, beaded train that softly swept the floor. To complete her gown, the bride chose a headpiece of Austrian and Swarovski crystals, from which a soft white veil dusted with Swarovski crystals cascaded to her shoulders.
Serving as the maid of honor was Ms. Cynthia "Colorado" Fleming of Glenwood, Colorado. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Cindy "Kingwood" Freeman, of Houston, Texas, and Ms. Barbara Dooley, of San Antonio, Texas. Serving as a Junior Bridesmaid was Ms. Ashley Piatkowski, niece of the bride. The flower girl was Ms. Gabriele Venn, friend of the bride and bride's nephew. The bridesmaids wore Jim Helm Couture floor length gowns and opera length gloves in Scarlet. The bride's honorary attendants included: Mrs. Wendy Duvall, daughter of the groom, Ms. Megan Platt, daughter of the groom, Mrs. Anaval Platt, Mrs. Jamie Platt, Mrs. Micki Piatkowski, Mrs. Becky and Allison House, Mrs. Amanda Vogan, Mrs. Genny Senac, and Mrs. Joan Hughes.
Serving as the best man, was the grooms' son, Richard Platt, of Houston, Texas. The groomsmen were Mr. Rusty Senac, of Baytown, Texas, and Dr. Bobby Hughes, of Baytown, Texas. Serving as the Ring Bearer was Master Bennett Piatkowski, the bride's nephew. The groom's honorary attendants included: Ferris Platt, brother of the groom, Mr. Brian Piatkowski, brother of the bride, Mr. Larry Duvall, Mr. Kenneth House, Mr. Lalo Sierra and Mr. Danny Hjele.
The bride has a degree in Business Administration and works for Donovan and Watkins. The groom received his Doctor of Dental Surgery and practices in Baytown, Texas.
Following their initial honeymoon, the bride and groom will take an extended honeymoon, in a surprise location from the groom. Following, the couple will make their home on the bay, in Beach City, Texas, with Hank, Yagger, Fester, Chloe, and Julio.
Ronda and George would like to thank their family members and close friends for celebrating this special day with them. Ronda especially thanks Ronnie Agnew and his wife Kay, for performing the ceremony that added such a personal touch.
