Miss Elizabeth Leigh Andrus and Mr. Cameron Myles Connors were united in marriage on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at six o'clock in the evening at St. Paul's Chapel, Columbia University in New York City. The Chaplain Jewelnel Davis officiated the double ring candlelight ceremony. Music was provided by Mr. William Randolph, Jr., organist. Miss Nicole Gull sang "Forever Young" and Mr. Alister McRae read "Blessing for a Wedding." A seated dinner reception and dancing followed at The Rainbow Room, Rockefeller Center, with music provided by The Joel Katz Band. On the eve of the wedding the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at DaNico's in Manhattan's Little Italy. On Friday, a bridesmaids luncheon was held at Guastavino's, hosted by Mrs. Irene Czarda, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Cynthia Black, aunt of the bride. On Sunday, many guests accompanied the newlyweds to a Yankees baseball game where their marriage was announced on the stadium billboard.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon B. Andrus of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Irene Czarda and the late Mr. Adalbert Czarda of North Brunswick, New Jersey and the late Mr. and Mrs. Winfield Andrus of Queens, New York.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Connors of Aurora, Colorado. He is the grandson of Mrs. Lee Anna Fox and the late Mr. Franklin Fox of Tulsa, Oklahoma and the late Mrs. Ethel Connors of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory net and silk satin designed exclusively for her by Priscilla of Boston. The sleeveless gown featured an empire bodice flowing into an A line silhouette of delicate Alencon lace with seed pearls and sequins adorning the dress and border. To compliment her gown, Elizabeth wore a cathedral length mantilla veil adorned with beaded Alencon lace. In her floral bouquet she carried beaded flowers made from the trim of her greatgrandmother's wedding gown and draped at the base of the flowers was a small horseshoe with individually set diamonds.
Miss Sara Hendler of Los Angeles, California served as the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included, Miss Nicole Gull, of New York City, Mrs. Kevin Zeppernick of Gahanna, Ohio, Miss Melissa MacBride of New York City and Dr. Alexandra Turner of Atlanta, Georgia. They wore ivory organza A line gowns accented by an ivory ribbon belt by Jim Hjelm.
Mr. Daniel Begg of Boulder, Colorado served as the Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. Christopher Connors, brother of the groom, of Parker, Colorado, Mr. Joseph Van Harken of New York City, Mr. David Swift of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mr. Carsten Bredsdorff of Portland, Oregon, and Mr. Matthew Andrus, brother of the bride, of Aspen, Colorado.
Elizabeth is a graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a certificate in American Studies from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She performed and choreographed for Princeton's dance troupe, Body Hype, and was a member of the school's cheerleading team where she served as Captain in her Senior year. For three years after graduation she coached the Columbia University cheerleading team and now cheers for Cheer New York. Elizabeth is a health care representative for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Manhattan.
Cameron is a graduate of Overland High School in Denver, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He is a Senior Creative Services Manager at CondeNet in New York City.
Following a honeymoon in Tahiti, Mr. and Mrs. Connors will reside in Gramercy Park, New York City.
