Miss Maya Lea Buryakovsky and Mr. James Matthew Pomroy were united in marriage on the evening of Saturday, September 4, 2004 on the Meadow at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston Texas. The Honorable Eric Andell officiated the double ring ceremony under a chupah. Music for the ceremony was provided by the Dave Zeger String Quartet.
Readings were given by Mrs. Camryn Leigh Hodges, sister of the groom, and Mr. Larry Ray Buryakovsky, brother of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a seated dinner and dancing in the Grande Ballroom of the Houstonian with music provided by The Ronnie Renfrow Big Band.
On the day before the wedding a bridal luncheon was hosted by Mrs. Michael Samuel Tapick and Mrs. Alfred John Harper II at Ouisie's Table. On the eve of the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held at Arcodoro.
The Bride is the daughter of Ms. Ruth Buryakovsky and Mr. Vadim Buryakovsky of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Blyuma Berliner and the late Mr. Moisey Berliner, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonid Buryakovsky all of Houston, Texas.
The Groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Neil Pomroy of Odessa, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Matthew Darden of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Mr. and Mrs. James Green Pomroy of Crane, Texas.
Given in marriage and escorted by her parents, the bride selected a magnificent haute couture white gown designed by Tomasina of New York. Fashioned in a princess silhouette, the strapless gown, created from white re-embroidered Alencon lace, was intricately beaded with petite seed pearls. The full back skirt descended to an extended chapel train.
To compliment her ensemble, Maya wore a cathedrallength cascading veil edged with matching Alencon lace held in place with a handcrafted tiara of crystals and pearls. She carried a hand tied bouquet of cascading Lilies of the Valley.
Mrs. Lisa Heather Brelsford of Houston, Texas served as the Matron of Honor. The Bridesmaids included Mrs. Leslie Jane Sharp of Dallas, Texas, Miss Keri Ann Bellacosa of San Antonio, Texas, Miss Alyssa Nicole Soliz, niece of the groom, of Mesquite, Texas, and Miss Edie Michelle White of Houston, Texas. They wore soft lilac silk gowns designed by Vera Wang and carried garden bouquets of lilac orchids and white roses.
Miss Natalie Renee Hodges and Miss Zoë Michelle Hodges, nieces of the groom, were the adorable Flower Girls. Mr. Christopher Matthew Soliz and Mr. Caleb Matthew Hodges served as the handsome ring bearers.
Mr. Freddie Neil Pomroy of Odessa, Texas served his son as Best Man. The groomsmen included Mr. Hunter Lee Pomroy, cousin of the groom, of Austin, Texas, Mr. Matthew DeWitt of Odessa, Texas, Mr. Carlos Francisco Soliz, of Mesquite, Texas, and Mr. David Christopher Curtis, of Austin, Texas.
Serving as Ushers were Mr. Larry Ray Buryakovsky, of Washington, D.C., Mr. Joshua Hodges of Odessa, Texas, and Mr. Lennie Aranovich of Houston, Texas.
Maya is a graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Broadcast Journalism degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently a news anchor for the ABC affiliate in Waco, Texas.
Matt is a graduate of Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. He is the managing partner of Pomatics Technology Partners Ltd. an IT services firm.
Following a honeymoon to Maui, Maya and Matt along with their precious pup Sammie, will reside in Waco.
