Miss Elizabeth Kendall Arnold and Mr. Richard Hollis Dennis III were married on August 14, 2004 at half after seven in the evening at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Laurens A. Hall, Rector of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Music was provided by the Houston Children's Chorus, directed by Stephen Roddy, Melissa Givens, Soprano, George Ellis Mims and John Gearhart, Organists and Harpist, and Dan Shipman, Trumpeter. Sisters of the groom, Krista Leigh Cardini and Vicki Ann DeSimone read the Scriptures.
A reception followed at Houston Country Club, with entertainment by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Maggiano's. On the day of the wedding a brunch was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. James S. Adams, Mr. and Mrs. John Patrick Harrington and Mr. and Mrs. Homer R. Peterson at the Adams' residence. Mr. and Mrs. James P. Anthony, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. William L. Askey, Ms. Sarah Davis, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester O. Lehman, hosted a dinner on August 12th for the families of the bride and groom at the Lehman's residence.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Metcalf Arnold of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Phillip Anthony, Jr. of Houston, Texas and the late Mr. And Mrs. William S. Arnold of Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
The Groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hollis Dennis, Jr. of Belgrade Lakes, Maine and St. Petersburg, Florida. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Richard H. Dennis of Rome, Maine and the late Mrs. Lee Katherine Dennis and the late Mr. and Mrs. William A. Sullivan of Waterville, Maine.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless silk organza gown designed by Amsale, accented with vertical Alencon lace. Her cathedral length veil with matching Alencon lace extended beyond the length of the train. For the reception the bride removed the veil and wore an antique stole of Brussels lace. The bride and groom left the reception in the red 1970 Volkswagen Bug used by the Bride's parents to exit their wedding reception 34 years ago.
Christina Catherine Wilson of Washington, D.C. served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included Kate Sinclair Edwards of Providence, Rhode Island, Laura Davies Newhouse of Oak Harbor, Washington, Sara Kristen Peterson of Washington, D.C., Lila Sharifian of New York City, Ashley Elisabeth Stanberry of Houston, Virginia Lisbeth Strickland of New Haven, Connecticut, and Margaret Lindsay Elizabeth Wolfington of Los Angeles, California. The Bridesmaids wore full length seafoam green taffeta dresses designed by Lazaro with embroidered tissue silk organza shawls and antique Cameo and pearl necklaces.
Abigail Lane Gutierrez of Houston, Texas served as the Flower Girl. The House Party included Karen Emily Clevering of Portland, Oregon, Jennifer Jodeit Daly of Houston, Deborah Hisahng Kim of New York City, Kristen Womack Jewell of Seattle, and Linda Louise Pifer of Washington, D.C.
Jason Albert Fortin of Oakland, Maine, served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Brendan Thomas Daly, Bryan Dwight Evangelista, and Joseph Desmond Harten of Washington D.C., Michael John Doonan of San Francisco, California, Mark Robert Greenleaf of San Diego, California, Christopher Alden Pierce, Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts, and Michael Charles Weiss of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Ring Bearer was Brendan Alexander DeSimone of North Reading, Massachusetts. Jeff Beck Cardini of Nashua, New Hampshire and Jonathan Mark DeSimone of North Reading, Massachusetts were Ushers.
Elizabeth is a graduate of The Kinkaid School and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Georgetown University in Wahsington, D.C., where she was a Baker Scholar. She is an Associate at Morgan Stanley in New York City in the Global Capital Markets Group.
Richard graduated from Waterville High School in Maine and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University where he was Captain of the Varsity Swim Team. He is an Associate at Apollo Management, L.P. in New York City.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis will live in Manhattan. Elizabeth and Richard would like to thank all of their family and friends for sharing in their joy.
