Miss Mary Elizabeth Ginsbach and Mr. Matthew Victor Kafka were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, August 21, 2004, at half past seven o'clock in the evening at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony and nuptial mass were officiated by The Most Reverend Vincent Michael Rizzotto, J.C.L. Music for the ceremony was performed by organist Jim Ross, cantor Gary Navy, trumpeter Theresa Hanebury, and soloist Casey DeFee Ginsbach, sister-inlaw of the bride. The Holy Scriptures were read by Miss Mary Michelle O'Hara, and Mr. James Michael Anderson. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at The Junior League of Houston with music provided by The Atlantics. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Brennan's of Houston. A bridesmaids' luncheon was hosted by Mrs. David Deaton, Mrs. Patrick Gooden, Mrs. James Brown, Mrs. James Kyle, Mrs. Robert Zorich, and Mrs. Richard Selke at The Bistro Vino on the day before the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Glenn Ginsbach of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Luken Ginsbach of Edinburgh, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Richard Shepherd, of Houston, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Kafka of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. Victor William Kafka of Kansas City, Missouri, the late Mrs. Ellen Murphy Kafka of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Randolph Wolfe of Greenwood, South Carolina.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown fashioned of ivory silk organza from the Vera Wang Luxe Collection. The gown featured a strapless fitted bodice with a ribbon of silk tulle around the neckline and a basque waist. Reembroidered Alencon lace covered the gown and was accented with an overlay of tissue organza. The full skirt featured an apron cut front and trapunto stitching bordered the gown's hem and chapel-length train. Her cathedral-length veil was accented by chiffon roses worn by her mother on her wedding day. The bride carried a bouquet of white vendela roses, stephanotis, and hydrangeas.
Miss Margaret Ann Brown, friend of the bride, served as the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Casey DeFee Ginsbach, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Ashley Burford Deaton, Miss Courtney Leigh Gooden, Mrs. Allison Hunt Hamilton, Miss Kathryn Barrington Kyle, Mrs. Brynley Susan Todd, and Miss Sunny Kay Wheeler, all friends of the bride. Serving as Junior Bridesmaid was Miss Courtney Elizabeth Shepherd, cousin of the bride. Flower Girls included Miss Molly Katherine Shepherd, Miss Lauren Marie Shepherd, Miss Alexandra Noel Shepherd, and Miss Avery Elise Shepherd, all cousins of the bride. Members of the House Party included Miss Kristina Noelle Lochte, Miss Catherine Lange Olson, and Mrs. Ashley Cumley Pape.
Mr. Kyle Michael Kafka, brother of the groom, served as the Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. Robert Christopher Ginsbach, brother of bride, Mr. Alan Randolph Marshall, cousin of the groom, Mr. David Mathews Hamilton, Mr. James Gregory Badger, Mr. Lange Michael Thomas, Mr. Mathis Beckham Bishop, Mr. Bret Andrew Zorich, all friends of the groom. Ushers included Mr. Clint Randall McCallum and Mr. Jeffrey Dow Rice.
Libby is a graduate of Stratford High School, Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas A&M University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is employed by the World Health & Golf Association.
Matt is also a graduate of Stratford High School, Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Silver Spurs. Matt is employed by Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P.
Following a honeymoon to Ikal del Mar on the Mayan Rivera, the Kafkas will reside in Houston, Texas.
