Miss Stephanie Frances Sheppard and Mr. Anthony Jay Stevenson were united in marriage on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at seven o'clock in the evening at a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Raveneaux Country Club in Houston, Texas with the bride's parents hosting a reception of dinner and dancing immediately following. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Honorable Joseph M. Guarino and a special blessing by the Reverend Robert Matzinger. Several music selections for the ceremony were composed by the groom. At noon on the day before the wedding, a Bridal Luncheon was hosted by Jan Coburn and Emily Moreland at the Brownstone Restaurant. On the eve of the wedding a Rehearsal Dinner Fiesta at Pappasito's was hosted by the Stevenson family.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Sheppard, Jr. of Houston, Texas and the granddaughter of Mrs. Jean Vetrano and the late Mr. Anthony L. Vetrano, Jr. and Mrs. Dorothy Sheppard and the late Mr. Frank Sheppard, Sr.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Stevenson of Columbia, S.C. and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allen Smith and Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Stevenson of Central Florida.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected a dramatic coutour gown of diamond white silk shantung designed by Peter Langner of Italy. The gown featured beaded bands of French Lace at the neck, waist, hip and hemline and gossamer layers of tissue organza that created the gown's tiered chapel train.
Maids of honor were Jessica Szor of New York City and Sheila Sheppard of Houston, Texas, sister of the bride. The best men were Rich Fryling of New York City and Jeff Stevenson of Charlotte, N.C., brother of the groom. The ushers were Mr. Tom Vetrano of Houston, Texas, uncle of the bride, and Mr. Bob Stevenson of Columbia, S.C., brother of the groom. Readings during the ceremony were given by Patricia Boyes of Houston, Texas and Mark Schowalter of New York City. The house party included Michele Fraga of Houston, Texas and Thalia Stevenson of Fort Collins, Colorado, sister of the groom. Gina Buckner and Daniel Buckner, cousins of the bride, led the processional of seating.
Stephanie graduated from St. Agnes Academy and attended the University of Southern California and graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors degree in Applied Learning and Development. She lives in New York City and performs professionally in musical theatre. Tony graduated from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Music degree and is a principal tenor with The Metropolitan Opera of New York.
After a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, the couple will reside in Manhattan, New York.
