Miss Shannon Paige Rhodes and Mr. Holland Gwin Morrison were united in marriage on Saturday, July 24th, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at Kingwood United Methodist Church. The candlelight double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Joe Fort. Music for the ceremony was provided by soloists Mrs. Kendra Phelps Pike and Mr. Will Cunningham, who were accompanied by organist Mrs. Sheila Evans. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted dinner and dancing at the Kingwood Country Club. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held at the Tin Roof B-B-Q in Atascocita, Texas hosted by the groom's parents. The bride's maternal grandmother gave a bridesmaids' tea on Friday afternoon at Tea Thyme in Kingwood.
The Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Larry Rhodes of Kingwood. She is the maternal granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Lou Peacher of St. Louis, MO. She is the fraternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Frank Rhodes of Memphis, TN. The Groom is the son of Mrs. Diana Marrs Morrison and Mr. John Gwin Morrison, Jr. of Kingwood. He is the maternal grandson of Mrs. Norma Singley Marrs and the late Roland Wilson Marrs and the fraternal grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Gwin Morrison all from Shreveport, LA.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless golden satin A-line gown. It was entirely embellished with ivory Alencon lace on a tulle overlay and enhanced with crystals, sequins, and pearls. The delicately laced-up back was highlighted with an exquisite cathedral length train. To complement her gown the bride chose a headpiece of cultured pearls and Austrian crystals from which a cathedral-length veil cascaded. For something old, the bride wore an antique diamond ring that belonged to her great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. The bride carried a bouquet of Virginia roses, white lilac, and Queen Anne's lace.
Serving as the Bride's Maid of Honor was her sister Miss Torri Rhodes of Houston. Bridesmaids were Miss Lauren Greenlee of Round Rock, TX, Miss Kerry O'Bric of Waco, TX, Miss Erin McEntee, Miss Meaghan McEntee, and Mrs. Lindsey Reznik all of Houston. The attendants wore bordeaux chiffon strapless A-line gowns with sidegathered bodices and dropped waists which were designed by Jim Hjelm. They carried bouquets of roses, carnations, and lilac in shades of bordeaux, pink, and lilac.
Serving as the Groom's Best Man was Mr. John Gwin Morrison, Jr., the groom's father. Groomsmen were Mr. Jeffrey Morrison, the groom's brother, of Kingwood, Mr. Lanny Giesler of Bellaire, Mr. Derek Reznik of Houston, Dr. Jeffrey Dacunha of Waco, TX, and Mr. Jonathan Pike of Plano, TX. Ushers were Mr. Ryan Rhodes, the bride's brother, of Kingwood, Mr. Christopher Morrison, the groom's cousin, of Blanchard, LA, Mr. David Kostohyrz, and Mr. James Spradley, both of Houston.
The Bride is a graduate of Kingwood High School and a student at the University of Houston pursuing a degree in Education. The Groom is a graduate of Kingwood High School and of Baylor University. Currently, he is a fourth year dental student at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center.
Following a honeymoon at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Houston.
