Miss Michele Anne Rutherford and Mr. Scott Michael Bell were united in marriage on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at seven o'clock in the evening at South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was co-officiated by Dr. Steve Wells and The Reverend J. Pittman McGehee. Ceremony music was provided by organist Mr. Daryl Robinson and The University String Quartet of the University of Houston Moores School Of Music. Scripture readings were given by Miss Melinda Buie and Mr. Templeton Keller.
A reception followed at the River Oaks Country Club with music provided by The Brotherhood. On the eve of the wedding the Groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Damian's Cucina Italiana Restaurant.
The Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Abney Townsend of Houston, Texas, and Dr. and Mrs. Huey Douglas Rutherford of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elodia Ramirez, and the late Mr. Joseph Ramirez, Mrs. Gladys Townsend of Greenwood, South Carolina, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Huey Rutherford of Perry, Georgia.
The Groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Bell of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jean Sanders and the late Mr. William Josiah Sanders of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Henry Bell of Conroe, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Michele wore a strapless gown made of white duchess satin. She carried a nosegay bouquet of white roses.
Serving as the Bride's Matron of Honor was her sister, Mrs. Theresa Mickiewicz of Houston, Texas. Bridesmaids were Miss Ann Bell of Boulder, Colorado, Miss Elizabeth Bowen of San Francisco, California, Miss Carla Davalos of San Antonio, Texas, Miss Michelle Hughes of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Amy McKnight, of New York, New York, Mrs. Ashley Nelson of Beverly Hills, California, Miss Katherine Russell of San Antonio, Texas, Miss Dylan Shrader of New York, New York, and Miss Lacey Yates of Washington, D.C. Miss Elizabeth Mickiewicz, niece of the bride, served as Flower Girl. Members of the House Party included Miss Ashley Bacon of Houston, Texas and Miss Kristen Joyce of San Francisco, California.
Serving as the Groom's Best Man was his brother, Mr. James McLean Bell of Washington, D.C. Groomsmen included Mr. Benton Heyworth of New York, New York, Mr. John Rosenberg of Palo Alto, California, Mr. Alec Reynolds of Washington, D.C., Mr. Benjamin Stark of Houston, Texas, Mr. Michael Levy of Austin, Texas, Mr. Curtis Willeford of Houston, Texas, Mr. Jack Nelson of Austin, Texas, Mr. Brown McCullough of New York, New York, and Mr. Taylor Roe of New York, New York.
Michele is a graduate of Lamar High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She obtained her Associate's degree in Fashion Design from Parson's School of Design in New York.
Scott is a graduate of St. John's School. He earned a degree in Economics at Princeton University. Scott received his Master's in Business Administration from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. He is employed by Weston Presidio in San Francisco, California.
Following a honeymoon in Bali, Mr. & Mrs. Bell will reside in San Francisco, California.
