Miss Elizabeth Leyhe Allen and Mr. Todd James Rogers were united in marriage on Saturday, July 31st, 2004 at 7 o'clock in the evening at the First Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Asa Hunt officiated the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Dr. Joby Bell, organist, the Fine Arts String Quartet and Dr. Daniel Shipman, trumpeter. Also performing during the ceremony was the First Presbyterian Chancel Choir, directed by Dr. John Yarrington, with soloist Leigh Shipman. Scripture readings were given by Mr. Walter John Smith and Mr. Michael Leyhe Burke, cousin of the bride. A reception followed at The Corinthian with music provided by both the David Caceres Band and Grady Gaines and The Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Grappino di Nino. On Friday, a bridesmaid's luncheon was hosted by Mrs. Fred Leyhe, the bride's grandmother, at the Junior League of Houston.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Christopher Allen, Sr. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Fred Henry Leyhe of St. Louis, Missouri and the late Mr. Fred Henry Leyhe and Mrs. Hersche Vincent Allen and Mr. Robert Frank Allen of Menlo Park, California.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Joyce Marquart Rogers of Denver, Colorado and Mr. and Mrs. Drew James Rogers of Austin, Texas. The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Warren Marquart of Findlay, Ohio and Mr. Joseph James Rogers of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and the late Mrs. Joseph James Rogers.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a diamond white silk pique gown designed by Reem Acra. The strapless A-line gown featured a dropped waist with a silver and white embroidered bodice of Swarovski crystals and tiny seed pearls. The bride wore a white chapel length veil that was edged in satin and carried a hand tied bouquet of white roses and stephanotis.
Mrs. Gregory Joseph Schick of Denver, Colorado served as the Matron of Honor. The bridesmaids included Miss Emily Claire Brock of Atlanta, Georgia, Miss Emily Allison George of Austin, Texas, Miss Allison Evans Henry of Washington, D.C., Miss Erika Layne Holberg of Dallas, Texas, Miss Mary Kristen Plumhoff of New York, New York, Miss Jennifer Jean Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Bradley Alan Zachman, the sister of the groom, of Denver, Colorado. The bridemaids wore soft pink silk strapless gowns by Vera Wang with an English netting overlay and carried garden bouquets of pink roses.
The honorary attendants were Mrs. Luis German Dominguez-Paris, sister of the groom, of Denver, Colorado, Miss Betsy Ann Simons of Denver, Colorado, and Miss Isabella Gray Younger of Boston, Massachusetts.
Mr. Marshall Carpenter of Denver, Colorado served as the Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. John Christopher Allen, Jr., brother of the bride, of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Christopher Lee Buenning, Mr. Jeffrey Webb Davis, and Mr. Gregory Joseph Schick of Denver, Colorado, Mr. Ryan Matthew Maclay of Lewisberg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Jeremy Guy Mayoss of Evergreen, Colorado, and Mr. Troy James Whitcomb, cousin of the groom, of Fairfax, Virginia. Serving as ushers were Mr. Michael Francis Ballard and Mr. Michael Andrew Croce of Denver, Colorado, Mr. Michael Leyhe Burke of London, England, Mr. Jonathan Bradley Dykema of Newberg, Oregon, and Mr. Philip Robert Holm of Santa Barbara, California.
The bride is a graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Southern Methodist University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Beth is a Recruiting Coordinator with Baker Botts, LLP. in Houston, Texas.
The groom is a graduate of Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. Todd is employed by Enterprise Leasing as an Account Executive in the Fleet Services Department.
Following a honeymoon in St. Lucia, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers will reside in Houston, Texas.
