Marguerite Hopson Miller and Christian Franklin Johnson, both of Houston, Texas, were united in marriage at five o'clock in the evening at St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Northeast Harbor, Maine. The Reverend David Lucey of St. Mary's by the Sea Church and The Reverend Miles Brandon of the University of Texas Chapel officiated. Music was performed by Mr. Peter Vaux, the organist, and Miss Stephanie Leonardi, trumpeter. A reception followed the ceremony at The Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor where guests danced to the music of the Eturnity Band from New York. The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held on the eve of the wedding at a private club on Mount Dessert Island, Maine.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Michael Miller of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Raymond Elliott Buck, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles David Miller of Dallas, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Craig Johnson of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lynch Vail of Houston, Texas and the late Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Holbrook Johnson of Lansing, Michigan.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown designed for her by Lisette Lux Haute Couture. The A line gown, fashioned in a white double silk satin, featured a vneck bodice that was embellished in the back with buttons to the train. To complete her ensemble she wore a matching chapel length veil with satin trim complimented by fresh gardenias in her hair.
The Maid of Honor was Christina Elliott Miller of Houston, Texas, sister of the bride. The Matron of Honor was Georgina Moncrief Condrey of Fort Worth, Texas, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Natasha Beadleston Steinle of Norwalk, Connecticut, Margaret Colleen Cox of Houston, Texas, Dr. Elizabeth Biting Whitaker of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Sarah Elizabeth Bass and Katherine Lowry Sandstad both of Austin, Texas. The House Party included Bethany Lovejoy Ames, of Hanover, New Hampshire, McNair Livingston Bailey, of Atlanta, Georgia, Sara Emmaline Imbriglia of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Alison Kelley Murphy of Dallas, Texas, and Mary Sommers Pyne of Houston, Texas.
The Best man was Mark Andrew Johnson of Los Angeles, California, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Duncan Cullen Montgomery of Austin, Texas, Christopher Wayne Christensen and David Wilson Roberts, both of Dallas, Texas, William Mitten Coats, III, Samy Kamal Khalil, and Rory Ray Walker all of Houston, Texas. Ushers were Hill Corey Adams, Jr. of Austin, Texas, Edward Downs Fisher of Beaumont, Texas, Richard Wesley Moncrief Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, Brandon Kirk Holcombe and Jacob James Radcliffe, both of Houston, Texas.
The ring bearer was Fred Butler, of Nashville, Tennessee, and the flower girls were Hallie Grimes, of Houston, Texas, and Lucy Butler, of Nashville, Tennessee.
Miss Miller attended St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where she received a B.A. in government. She went on to graduate from University of Houston Law School and is presently an associate at the firm of Coats, Rose, Yale, Ryman, and Lee. Mr. Johnson attended St. Marks School in Dallas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where he received a B.A. in history. He went on to graduate from the University of Texas Law School and is presently an associate at Brown McCarroll, L.L.P. After a honeymoon in California, the couple will live in Houston, Texas.
