Lauren Ann Kavanaugh and Ryan Glen Brady were united in marriage on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at seven o'clock in the evening at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was performed by Reverend Gail Williford. Organist Robert Brewer, trumpeter Robert Walp of the Houston Symphony, trumpeter Logan Kavanaugh, brother of the bride, a brass quintet and the St. Paul's United Methodist Choir provided the ceremony music.
A cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres followed in the foyer of the La Colombe d'Or with music provided by pianist Cindy Lenoir. Upon the arrival of the bride and groom, the seated dinner began in the grand ballroom and conservatory of the La Colombe d'Or. The music was provided by The Pictures and the flower arrangements in the style of an English garden were supplied by Plants n' Petals. The bride's aunt, Mrs. Carrie Tiemann, hosted a bridal luncheon the previous afternoon at Mark's. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Bistro Vino.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ledlow Kavanaugh of Richmond, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Kavanaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tiemann of Austin, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Smith of Dallas, Texas and the late Maxine Kavanaugh of Austin, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Matthew Brady of Molalla, Oregon. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jocelyn Bedell of Houston, Texas, the late Mr. Joseph J. Brady of Houston, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Glen S. Spickler of Bakersfield, California.
Given in marriage by her parents, and escorted by her father, the bride chose an elegant gown designed by Reem Acra of New York. The strapless white satin gown featured a silver embroidered sculpted neckline with a dropped waist bodice. The full skirt flowed into a cathedral length train with matching silver embroidered appliqués. To compliment her gown she chose a matching cathedral illusion veil adorned with silver appliqués. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of phalenopsis orchids and stephanotis.
The bride's attendants were gracefully attired in Jim Hjelm strapless, iridescent blue shantung dresses complimented with a small train.
Miss Laine Erica Kavanaugh, sister of the bride, of Princeton, New Jersey, served as the Maid of Honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Noelle Kirchner of Princeton, New Jersey, Miss Megan Lineberger of Evanston, Illinois and Miss Ellen Yang of Brecksville, Ohio.
Mr. Sean Brady, brother of the groom, of High Point, North Carolina, served as the best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Chad Kirchner of Princeton, New Jersey, Mr. Brian Janosky of Austin, Texas and Mr. Nathan Lanier of Los Angeles, California.
Scripture readings during the wedding ceremony were given by Miss Stephanie Feder of Skokie, Illinois and Miss Rebecca Van de Ven of Burlingame, California. The ushers were Mr. Christopher Van de Ven of Burlingame, California, and cousins of the bride, Mr. Seth Tiemann, Mr. Matthew Tiemann and Mr. Luke Tiemann, all of Austin, Texas.
Lauren is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School of Sugar Land, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Music degree with a minor in business from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and then received her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She recently completed her stay in San Francisco as the marketing and public relations assistant for the Conservatory, flutist for several regional orchestras and a freelance musician in the Bay Area. She plans on teaching music and continuing her orchestral pursuits upon relocating to Europe.
The groom is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy of Interlochen, Michigan. He received both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Mannes School of Music of The New School in New York City. He won a position as a French hornist in the United States Army Band of Europe and is now traveling throughout Europe with the Band, giving concerts for foreign audiences and American audiences stationed abroad.
Following a honeymoon to the Tuscan countryside in Italy, the couple will reside in Heidelberg, Germany.
