Ms. Shelley Elaine Pannill and Mr. Matthew Jeremy Stein were married on Sunday, May 30, 2004, at six o'clock in the evening, at the Bishop's Lodge Resort in Santa Fe, NM. Rabbi Malka Drucker officiated at the ceremony, held atop a hill at the Mesa Vista campsite. A reception followed in the ballroom at the Bishop's Lodge. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's family hosted a welcome dinner at La Casa Sena in downtown Santa Fe.
The bride is the daughter of Deborah I. Detering and William P. Pannill, both of Houston. The groom is the son of Marlene and Martin Stein of Santa Rosa, CA.
Katherine Pannill Center, Elizabeth Pannill, Cindy Stein Urbanc, and Debbi Stein, the sisters of the bride and groom, held the poles of the chuppah. The groom's niece, Aviva Urbanc, was the flower girl, and his nephew, Kinto Diriwachter, was the ring bearer. Katherine Seger Weber and Danny Winokur signed the couple's ketubah. Escorting guests to their seats were Edward Davis, Gordon Center, Klemen Urbanc, Steven Weinreb, Danny Winokur, Jon Rosenshine, Brian Karp, Stephanie Teleki and Scott Carter.
Escorted down the aisle by both parents, the bride wore an A-line style organza gown adorned with embroidered pastel flowers, with a straight neckline, spaghetti straps and a low, sheer illusion back, designed by Lisa Hutchinson of Mona Lisa Designs in Honolulu, HI.
The bride is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston. She graduated from Connecticut College and earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
The groom graduated from Brown University. He has a master's degree in East Asian Studies from Stanford University. A former editorial director with Yahoo!, he currently works for the U.S. Department of Justice.
The couple will continue to reside in Santa Monica, CA.
