Miss Erica Kathleen Shannon and Mr. Mark Sheridan McDonald were united in marriage on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at four o'clock at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Houston. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend R. Troy Gately, pastor of Sacred Heart and Vice Chancellor of the Galveston Houston Diocese. Music for the ceremony was provided by The Main Street Musicians string quartet and David Llewellyn accompanied vocalist Josh Wilson on the organ. Mr. Lewis Ganter and Mrs. Martha Manley the bride's uncle and aunt gave Scripture readings. Mr. Chad Manley and Mr. Adam Manley were altar servers.
The reception was hosted by the bride's parents at the Crystal Ballroom of the Rice Hotel. Music for the cocktail hour was provided by the string quartet. Dance music was performed by The Shapeshifters. On the eve of the ceremony, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bistro Vino.
The Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Michael Shannon of Houston, the granddaughter of Mrs. Jane Ganter and the late Bertin C. Ganter of Dallas and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Shannon of Houston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hinshaw of Austin, the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Lange and Mr. and Mrs. Robert McDonald of Dallas.
Given by her parents in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless ball gown from the couture collection of Lazaro. The white princess silk satin gown had a curved waistline and a hand beaded and embroider bodice. The A-line skirt had inverted side and back pleats with a chapel length train. The matching veil was accented with hand beading and embroidery. She carried a bouquet of white callas, vendella, sahara, bridal pink roses and lily of the valley.
Miss Jennifer Lewis of Waco served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Lindsay Smith, Miss Cathryn Kunevich and Miss Kendra Cooper of Houston, Miss Karly Knepper and the groom's sister Miss Kelsey McDonald of Austin, Miss Lisa Ganter of Dallas and Miss Kimber Ross of Allentown PA. Miss Allison Ganter and Miss Emily Ganter of Dallas and Miss Jackie Ganter of College Station served as Flower Girls. The House Party included Miss Sherry Walters of College Station, Miss Catherine Brock of Houston, Miss Samantha Ganter and Miss Diane Ganter of Dallas, Miss Stephanie Ganter of McKinney, and Miss Julie Ganter of Atlanta Georgia.
Serving the groom as Best Men were his two brothers, Mr. Andrew McDonald and Mr. Cade McDonald of Austin. The groomsmen were Mr. Will Houston of College Station, Mr. Spence Pennington of Raymondville, Mr. Collin Gandillon of Tyler, Mr. Sean McCord and Alberto Garza of Houston and the bride's brother, Andrew Shannon of Fayetteville N.C. The Ring Bearer was Mr. Vance Ganter of Oklahoma City. Ushers included Mr. Steve Koepke and Mr. Justin McComb of Bryan and Mr. Todd Higdon of Cedar Park.
Both Erica and Mark graduated from Texas A&M University and will make their home in Austin after a honeymoon in Hawaii.
