Miss Sarah Anne Caton and Mr. David Edwards Wynne were united in marriage on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at half past seven o'clock in the evening at Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas. The candlelight double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Leo Ralph Schuster III, Senior Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church. Scripture readings were given by Mr. Matthew E.W. Clapp and Miss Mary Rebecca Harp. A reception followed the ceremony at River Oaks Country Club with music provided by Infinite Groove. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at the Coronado Club. The bride's close friends, Mrs. Romy Polk and Mrs. JoAnn Roquemore, hosted the bridesmaids' luncheon the day of the wedding at Ouisie's Table.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Patricia Anne Clapp and Mr. Robert Lindsay Caton III of Tyler, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Judge and Mrs. Harold Bradley Clapp, Mrs. Robert Lindsay Caton, junior and the late Mr. Robert Lindsay Caton, junior all of Tyler, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reed Wynne of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Doctor and Mrs. Lige Coles Edwards of San Antonio, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Giesler Wynne of Houston, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant couture gown fashioned of ivory silk organza by Vera Wang. The fitted strapless bodice featured a rouched band of blush duchess satin at the neckline with an asymmetric sash across the back. The bride's cathedral length veil was of ivory silk organza trimmed in blush duchess satin, and she carried a bouquet of white gardenia, lilac, peonies, roses and Queen Anne's lace.
Mrs. Carrie Caton Pillsbury, sister of the bride, of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Claire Caton Tyson, twin sister of the bride, of Greenville, North Carolina, served as Matrons of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Julie Gillis Little of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Julie Scott Thu of Sugar Land, Texas; Mrs. Elizabeth Tekell Womble of Houston, Texas and Doctor Gracia Lenore Wynne, sister of the groom, of Houston, Texas. The attendants wore strapless indigo charmeuse floor-length gowns with ruffle tiered a-line skirts, and each carried bouquets composed of either white gardenia, hydrangea, lilies, peonies, roses, or tulips. Miss Eliza Caton Pillsbury, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. Members of the house party included Miss Mary Katherine Clapp of Lindale, Texas; Miss Ann-Marie Evans of The Woodlands, Texas; Miss Mary Rebecca Harp of Houston, Texas; Miss Ashley Jennifer Henry of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Linley Gober Wynne of Dallas, Texas.
The groom's brother, Mr. Robert Carlton Wynne, of Dallas, Texas, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Scott Young Phillips of San Francisco, California; Representative Patrick Michael Rose of Dripping Springs, Texas; Mr. Charles William Winship Ross of Washington, D.C.; Mr. Kenneth Reed Wynne, junior and Mr. Nathan Montgomery Wynne, both brothers of the groom, of Houston, Texas. The bride is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She then received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from The University of Texas School of Law and is currently practicing commercial litigation with Watt, Beckworth, Thompson & Henneman, L.L.P. in Houston, Texas.
The groom is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Princeton University, where he was Vice President of the Kappa Alpha Order and a member of the University Cottage Club. He then received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree with honors from The University of Texas School of Law and is currently practicing commercial litigation with The Wynne Law Firm in Houston, Texas.
Following a honeymoon to Antigua and Jumby Bay, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
