Miss Candace Louise Dyson and Mr. Kevin Thomas Lyons were united in marriage on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at twelve o'clock noon at The Episcopal Church of Saint John the Divine in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Laurens A. Hall and the Reverend Leo R. Schuster III. Ceremony music was provided by organist Steven Newberry, trumpeter Daniel W. Shipman, and The Houston Children's Chorus directed by Stephen Roddy. Readers included Miss Meredith Jane McCord of Houston, Texas and Robert Brant Bousquet of Nashville, Tennessee. A reception followed the ceremony at The Junior League of Houston with music provided by The Nite Beat Band. Friends of the bride's mother, Betty Tutor and Penny McAdams, hosted the bridesmaid's luncheon at the home of Betty Tutor. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at The Briar Club.
The bride is the daughter of Judith Lynn Max of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lloyd Max, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Lyons, Jr. of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Orrien Russell Smith of Houston, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Lyons of Kansas City, Kansas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her step father, Mr. Winton F. Starling of Houston, Texas, the bride wore the groom's mother's dress designed by Bianchi. The candlelight silk peau de soie dress was embellished by Alencon lace appliques and pearls. The strapless bodice followed by an A-line skirt extended to a gentle sweeping train. The bride's veil, also worn by the groom's mother on her wedding day, was of tulle with a headpiece of antique lace flowers and pearls. She carried a nosegay of ivory and pale pink roses.
Mrs. Courtney Marie Hilton, sister of the bride of Houston, Texas served as the Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Kameron Lynn Craft, Miss Jennifer Leigh Dollinger, Miss Megan Merle Farrar, Miss Hollis Ann Hughes, and Miss Courtney Anne Thompson, all of Houston, Texas, Miss Cynthia Lee Dyson, sister of the bride, of Durango, Colorado and Mrs. Amanda Threlkeld Lohner, of Dallas, Texas. Miss Catherine Elizabeth Hilton, niece of the bride, served as the junior bridesmaid. The attendants wore strapless silk satin gowns with mocha velvet ribbon at the waist and carried bouquets of Anna roses. Miss Carson Elizabeth Craft served as the flower girl. Members of the house party included Miss Markley Anne Masraff, Miss Meredith Jane McCord, Mrs. Marie Louise Inabnett Kinder, Mrs. Jennifer Elizabeth Raymond, all of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Suzanne Lamberty Austin, Mandy Marsh Click, and Antonina Scalise Borowczak, all of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer Stasney Benes of Gonzales, Texas.
Mr. James Orrien Lyons, brother of the groom of Seattle, Washington, served as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Charles Louis Davis, Mr. Lynn Vincent Elliott, Mr. John Jones Garrett, Jr., Mr. James Jackson Mitchell all of Houston, Texas, Mr. Stephen Paul Bowers of Austin, Texas, Mr. Joseph Steven Murph of Fort Worth, and Mr. Brett Shirk of Detroit, Michigan. Ushers included Mr. David Sinclair Cox, Mr. Charles Edward Dyson, brother of the bride, both of Houston, Texas, Stephen Andrew Bunting of Los Angeles, California, and Thomas Fagan Cox of Nashville, Tennessee.
The bride is a graduate of Stratford High School of Houston, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Marketing from Texas A&M University where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is a member of the Junior League of Houston and is currently an Assistant Sales Director for Pfizer Inc.
The groom is a graduate of Lamar High School of Houston, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Economics from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Following his graduation, over the next four years, he served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. He also received a Masters of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He is currently a Senior Accountant Manager for NetIQ.
Following a honeymoon to Maui, the couple will reside in Dallas, Texas.
