Miss Meredith Leigh Mitchell and Mr. Richard Thomas Crowell, Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at seven o'clock in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Bill Stell, with music provided by organist Andrew Galuska, soloist Betsy Ushkrat and The Houston String Quartet. Scripture readings were given by Reverend Ray Mitchell, Sr, grandfather of the bride, and Mr. Rick Crowell, father of the groom. A reception followed the ceremony at The St. Regis Houston with music by The Next Level Band.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Courtyard at St. James Place. Prior to the wedding, a bridal luncheon was hosted at the Rainbow Lodge by Joy Mitchell, sister-in-law of the bride, and Peggy Mitchell, mother of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mitchell, Jr. of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruby French and the late Wenzel French of Pearland, and Reverend and Mrs. Ray Mitchell, Sr. of El Campo.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Crowell of Spring and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gibbons of Hamilton, Ohio.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father the bride wore a princess cut royal satin white gown. She carried a beautiful bouquet of roses and stephanotis.
Ms. Amy Katherine Reed of Houston, served as the Maid of Honor, and Mrs. Joy Leann Mitchell of Manvel, sister-inlaw of the bride, served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included Ms. Kristen Alyce Varnes, Ms. Meredith Lynn Mitchell, Mrs. Jessica Townsend Guinn, Mrs. Kristen Porter Rabel all of Houston. Mrs. Melissa Peden Elrod of Virginia Beach, VA, Mrs. Rachel Henderson Warren of Huntsville, TX, and Ms. Kristin Michelle Crowell, sister of the groom, of San Antonio.
Mr. Shawn Michael Crowell of Houston, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Matthew Garrett Mitchell of Manvel, brother of the bride. Mr. Jaime Adrian Loyo of the Woodlands, Mr. M. Kirk Hall of Waco, Mr. Kenneth Charles Cook of League City, Mr. John Paul Radtke of Austin, Mr. Terrence Gilbert Saenz and Mr. James Harrison Milford both of Houston, and Mr. Matthew Dennis Steger of Katy.
Serving as Flower Girl was Miss Jordan Alyesse Mitchell, cousin of the bride, of Pearland. Serving as Ring Bearer was Master Connor Douglas Mitchell, cousin of the bride, of Pearland. Serving, as ushers were Mr. Wenzel Paul Bartlett of Clute and Mr. George Andrew Bartlett of Houston, cousins of the bride, and Mr. Scott Mustard of Boston, Massachusettes, Mr. Scott Gibbons of Hamilton, Ohio, and Mr. Peter Gibbons of Hamilton, Ohio, cousins of the groom. House Party attendants were Miss Brittany Johnson and Miss Brooke Johnson, cousins of the bride, of Kingwood, Mrs. Tiffany Gibbons Bradbury of Hamilton, Ohio, cousin of the groom, and Mrs. Kerrie Kathleen Steger, a dear friend of both bride and groom of Katy.
A special addition to the wedding and a very special part of both the bride and groom's life is Carson Tanner Mitchell, nephew of the bride, and Devany Danielle Crowell, niece of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Pearland High School. She attended University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She is currently Secretary/Treasurer of Garrett & Leigh, L.C. in Houston.
The groom is a graduate of Klein High School in Spring. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he played football for the Lumberjacks. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and History and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He is currently employed at Progressive Capital Mortgage.
Following a honeymoon to Aruba, Mr. and Mrs. Riche Crowell will reside in Houston.
