Miss Catherine Elizabeth Lester and Mr. William Thomas Monroe were united in marriage on March 20, 2004 at seven o'clock in the evening at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Doctor James F. Jackson. Music for the ceremony was performed by Mr. Thomas Jaber, organist, Mr. Tom Tillotson, trumpeter and the Dave Zeger Strings. Mrs. Jan Heatherly was the soloist. A reception followed the ceremony at the Houston Country Club. On the eve of the wedding a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at their residence.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Wendy Ann Lester of Houston and Mr. August Philip Lester of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Claire Lain and the late Mr. Alvin Lain, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip August Lester. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Frank Monroe of Cypress, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marie Dilworth and the late Mr. James Weldon Dilworth and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Monroe.
Given in marriage by her father, Mr. August Philip Lester, the bride wore a gown designed by Audrey Hart. The gown was fashioned in soft ivory Italian matte satin, enhanced with silver metallic embroidery and beadwork of iridescent bugle beads. The veil of English silk illusion fell to full cathedral length.
Leti Garza, of Houston, Texas, served as Maid of Honor. Serving the bride as Matron of Honor was Laura Spaulding of Houston, Texas. The bridesmaids were Loren Moore, Jennifer Ashley and Phyllis Kilgore, all of Houston; Alyson Cemoch of LaGrange, Texas and Kim Landis of Crawford, Texas.
The houseparty included Alana Peveto and Michele Byrnes, both of Houston, Texas and Lambdin Freeman, sister of the groom, of Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Brandon Monroe, of Houston, Texas, brother of the groom served as Best Man. The groomsmen were Mr. Grant Hines and Mr. Dax Streater both of Austin, Mr. Philip Lester, brother of the bride, Mr. Chris Godlewski, and Mr. Clayton Moore, all of Houston, Texas.
The ushers included Mr. Peter Arellano, Mr. Chris Dodson, both of Austin, Texas; Mr. Randy Yabarra, of Houston, Texas; Mr. Brian Montor, brother of the groom of Round Rock, Texas; and Mr. Jason Monroe, brother of the groom, of Iowa.
Catherine graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, Texas. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Texas University in San Marcos, Texas. She is employed as a first grade teacher by the Hays ISD.
William graduated from Memorial High School in Houston, Texas and attended St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas. William is employed by Fogarty, Kline, Monroe Advertising Agency.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, Catherine and William will reside in Houston, Texas.
