Miss Jennifer Lynn McCollum and Mr. James Matthew Alexander were united in marriage on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at five o'clock in the evening.
The Reverend Gene Tyson of Lampasas, Texas performed the double ring ceremony at an intimate gathering at the home of the bride's parents.
Miss Emily Christine Davis of Pasadena, Texas and Miss Kara Leigh Reeves of Moscow, Texas, cousins of the bride, gave readings selected by the bride and groom. The Dave Zeger Quartet provided music for the ceremony.
A reception followed the ceremony, with dinner and dancing to the music of the Eclipse Orchestra in the Grande Ballroom of The Houstonian Hotel.
The bride and groom entered the reception to the strains of "Mary's Wedding," performed by bagpiper Alastair Campbell of The Houston Highlanders.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Las Alamedas.
Prior to the wedding, Ms. Velma Arrendell Roppolo of Deer Park, Texas and Ms. Judith McCollum Christensen of Katy, Texas, aunts of the bride, hosted a bridal luncheon at Brennan's.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Linda Driver McCollum and Mr. Alton Howard McCollum, Jr. of West University Place.
She is the granddaughter of Ms. Annie Rice Arrendell of Deer Park, Texas and the late Mr. Cullis Driver, and Mr. Alton Howard McCollum of Houston, Texas and the late Ms. Edwina Talbot McCollum.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. T. John Alexander of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McAllister of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mr. John Alexander of Fort Worth, Texas and the late Mrs. Lillian Millican Alexander.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a wedding gown of white silk-faced satin designed by Reem Acra of New York. The gown featured a strapless bodice embroidered with delicate silver thread and studded with scattered pearls and crystals. The back of the ball gown skirt was embroidered in a matching design from the waist to the hem of the chapel length train. To complement her gown, the bride chose a matching full-length veil embellished with crystals and silver thread that framed her face and enhanced the end of the veil. A crystal and rhinestone tiara completed her ensemble. She carried a bouquet of dendrobium orchids, phalaenopsis orchids, Virginia roses, Sahara roses, and stephanotis.
Ms. Elizabeth Karleskind of Austin, Texas, served the bride as Matron of Honor. The bridesmaids were Ms. Amanda Alexander, sister-in-law of the groom, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Ms. Laurie Woodward of Christchurch, New Zealand. Members of the House Party were Ms. Connie Ayers and Ms. Cathy Vitale both of Round Rock, Texas and Ms. Nancy McCorpin of Wimberley, Texas, and Ms. Amy Walker and Mr. Randall Walker of Fort Worth, Texas.
Mr. Michael Alexander of Fernandina Beach, Florida, served his brother as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Thomas Day of Houston, Texas and Mr. Cyrille Karleskind of Austin, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently employed by Dell Computer Corporation.
The groom is a graduate of Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Houston Baptist University. He is currently employed by the State of Texas.
Following a honeymoon on the islands of Maui and Kaua i, the couple will reside in Round Rock, Texas.
