Miss Rebecca Lynn Morris and Mr. James Aubrey Stegall, III were united in marriage on November 22, 2003 at half past seven o'clock in the evening at St. Michael Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The double-ring ceremony and nuptial Mass were officiated by Father John Rooney. Norman Sutphin, organist, Ms. Theresa Hanebury, trumpeter, Antionette and Emerson Chew, and Tiffanie Stegall Clausewitz, soloists, provided the ceremony music. Dorothy Morrogh, aunt of the bride and Sheridan Scott, maid of honor, gave Scripture readings. A dinner reception followed at Lakeside Country Club with music provided by Nite Beat. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy. The bride's grandmother, Frances Morrogh, and aunt, Dorothy Morrogh hosted a bridal luncheon at the Town and Country Neiman-Marcus Café on the morning of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Victor Morris of Houston, TX and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodric Morrogh, Jr. of San Antonio, TX and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Morris of San Leandro, CA. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Aubrey Stegall, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Aubrey Stegall of Alice, TX and the late Colonel and Mrs. Joseph Craig of San Antonio, TX.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown by Demetrios. The gown featured a full skirt, scalloped square neck and long, sheer bell sleeves. The entire gown was elaborately decorated with imported beaded Alencon lace and has an attached Cathedral train. Complimenting her gown, the bride wore a chapel length veil adorned with pearls and a tiara of crystal beads and carried a bouquet of white roses. The bridesmaids wore floor length gowns of burgundy organza.
Serving the bride as Maid of Honor was Miss Sheridan Scott of Houston, TX. Serving as Junior Bridesmaid was Miss Grace Sanders of Fort Collins, CO, cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Tiffanie Stegall Clausewitz, of San Antonio, TX, sister of the groom, Mrs. Genevieve Young Sugalski of Kirksville, Missouri, Ms. Heather Wightman, and Ms. Mary Beth Myrick of Houston, TX. Ms. Jacinda Jones of Austin, TX, Ms. Erin Ray of College Station, TX and Ms. Jennifer Smith of Katy, TX. Members of the House Party were Mrs. Amy Bast of Katy, TX and Miss Dorothy Murphy of Houston, TX.
Serving the groom as Best Man was Robert Bourassa of Houston, TX. Groomsmen were Mr. Craig Collins, Mr. Rob Cowart and Mr. Cris Franklin of Houston, TX, Mr. Brannon Stegall of Lockhart, TX and Mr. Andrew Stegall, of Corpus Christi, TX, brothers of the groom, Mr. Daniel Morris of Austin, TX and Mr. David Morris of Houston, Texas, brothers of the bride. Ushers were Mr. David Hartnett of Houston, TX, Mr. Matthew Sanders and Mr. Conor Sanders of Fort Collins, CO, cousins of the bride.
The bride attended Grapevine High School in Grapevine, TX and is a 1996 graduate of James E. Taylor High School in Katy, TX. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in 2000. She is a third grade teacher in the Katy ISD. The groom is a 1994 graduate of Alice High School in Alice, TX. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University in 1998 and was a member of the Corp of Cadets. He received a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the University of Houston Law Center, graduating in May 2002. He is currently an associate at the Phillips and Akers Law Firm in Houston.
Following a honeymoon in Playa del Carmen, Mexico the couple will be at home in Houston.
