Miss Laurie Lee Griffin and Mr. Patrick Steven McKinney were united in marriage on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at four o'clock in the afternoon at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church in Sugar Land, Texas. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend Kenneth Sinclair of Faith Lutheran Church, childhood minister of the bride. A solo was performed by Mr. Blake Jackson. Scripture readings were given by Mr. John Griffin, brother of the bride, and Miss Sara Duggan. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception of dinner ad dancing at Sweetwater Country Club. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Cadillac Bar restaurant on the Kemah Boardwalk.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lee Griffin of Sugar Land, Texas. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant diamond white silk gown designed by Maggie Sottero. Soft layers of tulle were sewn snugly across the bodice and embellished with Swarovski crystals along the sweetheart neckline. A thin beaded halter strap highlighted an exquisite necklace the groom had designed for the bride from the diamonds of his maternal grandmother's wedding ring. The luxurious twopiece gown was laced up the back and had sprays of crystals falling from each side of the skirt. A delicate cathedral-length veil, designed especially for the bride and held in place by a crystal tiara, was bordered with handsewn Swarovski crystals and cascaded beyond the gown's train. To complement her gown, the bride chose romantic crystal chandelier earrings. The bridal bouquet was a tiered hand-tied arrangement of all white spray roses, adorned stephanotis, and stalk.
