Miss Jennifer Marie Cunningham and Mr. Gregory Lawrence Desautels were united in marriage on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at eight o'clock in the evening at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was performed by The Reverend John Carlyle Barksdale with music provided by Mrs. Carol McCutchon, organist, the Encore Strings with Vaughn Pederson, trumpeter and Mrs. Betsy Sanders, soloist. Scriptures were read by Dr. Kyle Burks, the bride's uncle. A reception followed at River Oaks Country Club with music provided by The Works. Out of town guests enjoyed a Wedding Day Brunch in the home of Jan and Dan Duncan given by friends and family of the bride. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Solero.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Sanford Cunningham of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Bette Swindall Burks of Conroe and the late Mr. William Monroe Brookshire, Jr. of Houston and the late Dr. and Mrs. Harold Sanford Cunningham of Birmingham, Alabama.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Clement Desautels of Buffalo, New York. He is the grandson of Mrs. Irene Desautels and the late Lawrence Clement Desautels of Zephyr Hills, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Charles Kennedy of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Given by her parents in marriage and escorted by her father, Jennifer wore a gown fashioned of ivory silk mikado designed by Lazaro. Gold embroidery embellished the bodice, curved waistline and box pleated chapel train. Complementing her gown, the bride wore a chapel-length veil of silk illusion and a tiara of crystals and pearls. In honor of her parents, Jennifer wore the treasured diamond and emerald pendant given to her mother by her father on their wedding day.
Serving the bride as Maid of Honor was her sister Susan Ellen Cunningham of Houston. The bridesmaids were Caralyn Kennedy Desautels, sister of the groom, of Buffalo, New York, Lauren Keys DiPaolo of New York, and Rohini Sahni of New York. Serving as junior bridesmaids were Brooke Ellen Cunningham and Kristal Rose Cunningham, nieces of the bride, of League City, Texas. Serving as flower girl and honorary flower girl were Kathern Lee Cunningham and Marissa Rachelle Cunningham, nieces of the bride, of Keller, Texas. Serving as ring bearers were nephews of the bride, Ralph Sanford Cunningham III of League City, Texas, and Ryan Sanford Cunningham of Keller, Texas. The Bridal House party included Mrs. Brittany Brosch Albert of Germany, Miss Maggie Riden Beights of Charlottesville, Virginia, Miss Lauren Christi Browning of Nutley, New Jersey, and Miss Rebecca Lynn Dilling of Arlington, Virginia.
Mr. Lawrence Clement Desautels, father of the groom served his son as Best Man. Groomsmen included, Mr. Ralph Sanford Cunningham, Jr. of League City, and Mr. Stephen Earl Cunningham, of Keller, Texas, brothers of the bride, and Adam Louis Pisane, of Arlington, Virginia. Serving as ushers were Mr. Blake McNulty Cardwell, of Evergreen, Colorado, Mr. Eric Michael Dolder, of Arlington, Virginia, Mr. Christopher John Hunt, of Richmond, Virginia, and Mr. Michael Eugene Kennedy of Newfield, New York.
The bride is a graduate of the Kinkaid School. Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia and Masters of Arts in English from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is employed at Executive Education at the Wharton School.
The groom is a graduate of Nichols in Buffalo, New York. Greg graduated with high honors from the University of Richmond, with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He will pursue his Masters of Business Administration at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania beginning in August 2003.
Following a honeymoon in Spain, where they first met, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Desautels will reside in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
