Miss Laura Michelle Oshlo and Mr. Bradley Scott Burleson were united in marriage on Saturday the nineteenth of July 2003 at half past seven in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The Reverend Andy Noel performed the double ring ceremony. Preludial harp music was provided by Miss Betty Ashton Andrews, cousin of the groom. Mr. Rob Landes, organist, and Mr. Tom Vassallo, trumpeter, provided the ceremony music. In celebration following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted cocktails, dinner, and dancing at the Houston Country Club. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner atop the Warwick Hotel followed by dessert and cocktails on the Warwick Terrace.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Lee Oshlo of Houston, Texas and Breckenridge, Colorado. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Helene Garst Oshlo and the late Mr. Frank Oshlo of Dallas, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Whiteside of Austin, Texas and the late Mr. J. Murray Stevens of Austin, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert George Burleson of Tallahassee, Florida. He is the grandson of Mr. David Hall Burrows and the late Mrs. Betty Jackson Burrows of Roanoke, Virginia; and Mr. Reno Gothaway Burleson and the late Mrs. Leona Scott Burleson of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown custom designed for her by Lisette Lux Haute Couture. The gown's bodice, covered in French calais lace handmade especially for the bride, was hand-sewn onto soft Italian organza. The full skirt gracefully fell into a cathedral length train covered with calais lace. To complement her gown, the bride wore a delicate cathedral length veil and blusher of white silk illusion embellished with a thin silk ribbon border. She carried a bouquet of the palest pink, white, and ivory peonies, wrapped in an antique monogrammed handkerchief generously given to her by friends of the groom's parents. The bride carried the same sixpence from her parents' wedding nearly 32 years ago.
Mrs. Elizabeth Cook Jenkins of Marina del Rey, California, served as matron of honor, and Miss Lisa Ann Oshlo of Boulder, Colorado, served her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Ruth Mayer Johnson of San Francisco, California; Miss Elizabeth Waits King of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Laura McCall Hill of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Anna deJuan Tester of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Lisa Meeks Burleson of Greenville, North Carolina; Mrs. Alana Perryman Burleson of Tallahassee, Florida; Mrs. Anne Walzel Kramer of Houston, Texas; Miss Elizabeth Sue Schwartz of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Alexandra Dalton Paschal of Los Angeles, California; and Miss Lisa Danielle Averill of Houston, Texas. Scripture was read by Mrs. Kathryn Lent Van Wie of Houston, Texas.

The bride is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience and psychology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. The groom is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science in political science from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He is currently a third year law student at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
Following their honeymoon to Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora, Laura and Brad will be at home in Lexington, Virginia.
