Miss Courtney Kay Bertsch and Mr. Thomas H. Spata Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, August 9th, 2003 at l2:30 in the afternoon aboard the Southern Empress cruise ship on Lake Conroe. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend John Seago. A seated luncheon and cruise followed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Steve Bertsch of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Butch Szymanski and the late Judge Mary Lou Szymanski of Eagle Lake, Texas and Mrs. Evelyn Meyer and the late Roger Meyer of Columbus, Texas.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Earle Hendricks, III of Houston, Texas, and Dr. Thomas Haynie Spata of Spring, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Clarkson Cooley, Jr. of Houston, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom D. Spata of Temple, Texas. Tip's great uncle and aunt are Dr. and Mrs. Denton Arthur Cooley of Houston, Texas. He is descended from Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Denton Cooley, co-founders of the Houston Heights in l89l.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an exquisite strapless candlelight gown and a beaded veil.
Serving as Maid of Honor was Mrs. Rebecca Roe, sister of the bride. Miss Mackenzie Synder, cousin of the bride served as flower girl.
Mr. Tyler Cooley Spata served as his brother's Best Man. Master Zachary Snyder, cousin of the bride served as Ring Bearer. Serving as usher was Steve Sanders of Houston.
Courtney graduated from Klein Forest High School in l996. She earned her B.B.A. in Marketing from Sam Houston State University.
Tip graduated from Klein High School in l996. He earned his B.B.A. in Marketing from Southwest Texas University. He is currently employed with Cooley & Cooley Ltd. as Sales Manager for their U.S. and Canadian markets.
Following a cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Houston.
