Miss Laura Heath Ebeling and Mr. Ryan Hamilton Zehl were united in marriage on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at six o'clock in the evening at Community Church, Congregational in Corona Del Mar, California. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was performed by The Reverend Bruce Van Blair, with music provided by Mr. Rodger Whitten and the Southern California Choir. Scripture readings were given by Mrs. Amy Anderson LeCrone and Miss Marlee Elizabeth Slovacek. Following the ceremony, the bride's father hosted a reception at the Clubhouse at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's mother at the St. Regis Hotel.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. John Louis Ebeling and the late Mrs. Barbara Murch Ebeling of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Westlund Murch of St. Louis, Missouri, and the late Mr. Joseph Mary Ebeling of St. Louis, Missouri and the late Mrs. Marcella Vogel Ebeling of St. Louis, Missouri. The groom is the son of Mrs. Soraya Ilkhan Zehl and the late Dr. William Richard Zehl of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Fatemah Ilkhan and the late Mr. Ezatola Ilkhan, and Dr. and Mrs. William Francis Zehl of Houston, Texas.
Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory lace sheath dress designed by Monique Lhuillier. The mermaid silhouette gown had an attached, sweep train. The bride wore a custom design lace comb from her mother's wedding train and a multi tier cathedral length veil of ivory illusion. She carried a hand tied bouquet of lily of the valley and stephanotis that was wrapped in an antique lace handkerchief that was her maternal grandmother's. Her bridesmaids wore custom designed gowns of pale pink silk charmeuse.
Serving the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. Sofia Palandjoglou Ryan and as Maids of Honor were Miss Meaghan Osbrook Moran and Miss Morgan Lynch Moran, cousins of the bride. The bridesmaids were Miss Ashley Michelle Ferris, Mrs. Elizabeth Dorsey Fertitta, Miss Gretchen Suzanne Gideon, Miss Lyn Alexandra Pass, Miss Adrienne Kathleen Stockhoff, Miss Ashley Elizabeth Valentine, Miss Melissa Anne Waldrop, and Miss Katherine Eleanor Williams. Serving as Flower Girl was Miss Taylor Alexandra Murch, cousin of the bride. Members of the House Party were Miss Courtney Caplan, Miss Samantha Ann Mundinger, Miss Katie Ruth Nelson, Miss Sarah Combs Pritchett, Miss Kelley Ann Welch, and Miss Melissa Ann Wilder.
Mr. Alexander Maxwell Zehl, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. Warren Bane, Mr. Ben Andrew Carey, Mr. Houston Bolin Clark, and Mr. Michael Neubarth Ebeling, brother of the bride, Mr. John Weldon Granger II, Mr. Sean Joseph Haynes, Mr. Andrew Stephen Johnson, Mr. Harry Alexander Peyton III, Mr. James Freeman Woldert, and Mr. JD Woodward. Serving as ushers were Mr. Richard Michael Brennes, Mr. Todd David Dillingham, Mr. Richard Anthony Funk, Mr. Joshua Blackshear Maness, Mr. Darren Leete Myers, Mr. Jonathan Craig Plumhoff, Mr. John Welton Price, and Mr. Christopher James Semple.
The bride is a graduate of Memorial High School in Houston and the University of Texas in Austin where she received a Bachelor of Science in Retail Merchandising and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. The groom is a graduate of Memorial High School in Houston and the University of Texas in Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and was a member of Kappa Alpha and the Silver Spurs. The groom will be beginning his third year at South Texas College of Law in Houston.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
