Miss LaKeisha Jamale White and Mr. Tracy Rayshawn McGowen were united in marriage on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at five o'clock in the evening at The Gardens, in Houston Texas. Reverend Steven E. Carter of Brentwood Baptist Church performed the double ring ceremony. Tim Kilgore, pianist and Rod Soto, saxophonist, provided the music. Soloists were Tammara White, friend of the bride and Thomas White, uncle of the bride. Twanda Smith, aunt of the bride, recited a poem. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a seated dinner and dance reception in the Grande Ballroom at The Gardens, with music provided by Showtime Karaoke and DJ. Dinner commenced with a prayer by Mr. C. O. Bradford, uncle of the bride. The Dance Team Officers of Hightower High School performed a lyrical dance. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Pappadeaux. Magic Island was the site of a bridal dinner hosted by the bride's mother, Mrs. Wilma-White Bradford on July 26th.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradford of Houston. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGowen of Houston.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown designed by Oleg Cassini. The strapless ballroom gown with tulle overlay featured Alencon lace, hand-sewn pearls and authentic crystals. Her triple-tiered chapel length veil and tiara were accented with pearls and Swarovski crystals. To complement her ensemble, she wore satin gauntlets lightly adorned with crystals and carried a bouquet of black magic roses, gold roses and stephanotis. Mrs. Carla Bean of Houston served as Matron of Honor and Miss Myisha White of Houston, and childhood friend was Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kayce Hall and Miss Angela Wilson, of Houston, Miss Kamesha Lane of Fort Worth, Texas, Miss Sheneaka Sanders of Desoto, Texas and Miss LaTasha Barnes of Lewisville, Texas. Junior Bride was Miss Marquisha Randolph, cousin of the bride. Junior Bridesmaid was Miss Toni Gordon, the bride's godsister and flower girl was Miss Bria Clark, the bride's goddaughter.
Mr. Eric McGowen, Sr. of Houston, brother of the groom and Mr. Raymond Bean of Houston, served as Best Men. Groomsmen were Mr. Tarrynce Robinson and Mr. Alex Sam of Houston, Mr. Kalif Bell and Mr. Nehemiah Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas and Mr. Myron Davis of Arlington, Texas. The ring bearer was Master Marvin Randolph, Jr., cousin of the bride.
The bride's personal attendants were her aunts, Ms. Ruby Ferguson, Ms. Ida Phlegm and Ms. Charlene White and her godmother Mrs. Angela Gordon, all of Houston. The bride earned a Bachelor of Science in Dance and History from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas and is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. LaKeisha is an educator and Dance Team Director in Fort Bend ISD, and is a board member of the Texas Dance Educators Association.
The groom earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Southern University, and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration at the University of Houston. Tracy is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and is employed at a major oil company in Houston.
Following a honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Houston.
