Miss Jamie Lyn Pomikal and Mr. Davis Reid Dawson were united in marriage on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at seven o'clock in the evening at First United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. John Lockhart with Scriptures read by Reverend Betsy Sutherland. Mr. Michael Stewart, organist, and Mr. John J. Worthen, soloist provided the music. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a dinner reception at the Petroleum Club with music provided by the Next Level Band. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Bistro Vino. Brennan's was the site of a bridal luncheon hosted by the groom's mother on the day of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Melvin Pomikal of Rosenberg, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dessie Schmid of Rosenberg and the late Mr. Theodore Schmid and Mr. Melvin Pomikal of Sugar Land and Kenney, and the late Mrs. Florine Pomikal. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stanley Dawson of Richmond. He is the grandson of Mrs. Anna Davis and the late Mr. Fred Davis and Mrs. Dorothy Dawson and the late Mr. William Dawson, all of Richmond, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown of soft white silk duchess satin designed by Jim Hjelm Couture. The strapless aline gown featured an embroidered organza bodice with swarovski crystals. She wore a tiara of pearls and crystals with a fingertip length veil of soft illusion and carried a bouquet of Blue Bird roses, white orchids, stephanotis, and soft green lisianthus.
Mrs. Stacy Pomikal Kristynik of New York, New York served as her sister's Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lauren Reese Beheler of Richmond; Miss Aubrey Lynn Abbott and Miss Amy Caroline Norris, both of Dallas; Miss Penelope Love Poehl and Miss Erika Susan Schwartze both of Waco. The bridesmaids wore two-piece strapless satin a-line gowns in European gray and carried bouquets of dark pink hydrangeas and Blue Bird roses. Serving as flower girl was Miss Rachel Celess Duban of Marrietta, Georgia. The House Party included Miss Courtney Lea Culver and Miss Jennifer Ann Fontana, both of Houston.
Serving as his brother's Best Man, was Mr. Robert Holmes Dawson of Houston. Groomsmen were Mr. Luke Thomas Bender and Mr. Bradford Jackson Bryant, both of Spring; Mr. Fred Thomas Davis, Jr., of Needville; Mr. William Kyle Dawson and Eric John Warren, both of Houston; Kristopher Noel Kristynik, of New York, New York; Mr. Joseph William Robertson III of Cookeville, Tennessee; and Mr. Brian Thomas Salinas, of Rosenberg. Ushers included Mr. Jeffrey Ruskin Beheler, of Richmond; Mr. Mitchell Nelson Covell, Mr. Alejandro Jose Ibanez, and Mr. Oscar Tyson Seeliger, all of Houston.
The bride is a graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School and Baylor University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Jamie is employed by Katy Independent School District as a Speech-Language Pathologist. The groom is also a graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School and attended Eastern Mexico State University and the University of Oklahoma. Reid is the owner of DRD Landscapes, Inc.
Following a honeymoon trip to Cabo San Lucas, the couple will reside in Sugar Land, Texas.
