Miss Anissa Jan Crumley and Mr. William Davis Paddock were united in marriage on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at seven o'clock in the evening at The Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Mr. William Westervelt Brazelton with the Arundel String Quartet providing ceremony music. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at The Four Seasons with music provided by The Blue Monks. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Salt Lick in the Texas hill country. The Driskill Hotel's 1886 Cafe was the site of a bridal luncheon hosted by the bride's mother, sisters, aunt, cousin, and family friends on the day of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stacy Crumley of Houston, Texas and Suzanne White of Wimberley, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kavanaugh White of Rosenberg, Texas and Mrs. Jewell Remore Lowrey and the late Mr. Everett Stacy Crumley, Sr. of Bastrop, Louisiana.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Athearn Paddock of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Travis Davis of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Burton Buckley Paddock of Fort Worth, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown designed for her by Lisette Lux Haute Couture. The gown was fashioned of Italian duchesse silk in ivory. The fitted bodice with a Queen Anne neckline was embellished with Calais lace to the waist and the full, draped skirt was pleated to the back into a chapel length train. The bride wore the mother of the groom's heirloom Belgian lace veil held with a headpiece made of Austrian crystals and pearls. She carried a hand-tied European style bouquet of French lily-of-the-valley accented with delicate sprays of maiden's hair fern, french-braided in ivory silk ribbon.
Miss Maria White Hubbell of Austin, Texas served as her sister's maid of honor. Mrs. Lisbeth Crumley Ganninger, sister of the bride, of Orange, California and Mrs. Catherine Paddock Crain, sister of the groom, of Houston, Texas, served as Matrons of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Heather Louise Browne, Mrs. Catherine Henderson Day, Mrs. Tobey Blanton Forney, and Mrs. Ashley Smith Zimmermann, all of Houston; Miss Stacy Lynn Fuller of Washington, District of Columbia; and Mrs. Kathryn Hays Sasser of Nashville, Tennessee. The bridesmaids wore silk satin A-line gowns with a square neckline in ivory designed by Jim Hjelm and carried European bouquets of full-blown ivory cabbage roses with exposed stems braided in French silk ribbon. Serving as flower girl was Miss Amanda Caroline Weschler, cousin of the bride, of Houston. The house party included Mrs. Joe'l Baird Mafrige and Mrs. Taryn Sonik Daniels, both of Houston; Mrs. Kelley Moore Brownlow of Tyler, Texas; and Mrs. Stephanie Menefee Rasmussen of Austin.
Serving as his son's Best Man, was Mr. William Athearn Paddock, of Houston. Groomsmen were Mr. Edward Bruner Crain, Jr., Mr. Wyatt LeClercq Hogan, and Mr. Robert Lawton Paddock, all of Houston; Mr. Richard Kent McGaughy, Jr., Mr. Thomas William Oliver, Jr., and Dr. Herbert Brule Story III, all of Dallas, Texas; and Mr. Richard Buckley Paddock and Mr. Ty Hutchison Embrey, both of Austin. Serving as ring bearer was Edward Bruner Crain III, nephew of the groom, of Houston. Ushers included Mr. Frederick Walter Brazelton, Mr. John Hardy Murchison, Mr. Martin Bernard Rubio, Mr. Seth Alton Russell, all of Houston; Mr. Jon Cristopher DeGroot, Mr. Patrick Paul Walker, and Mr. Charles Andrew Woodward, all of Dallas; Mr. Donald Dupree Blair, Jr. of New York, New York; Mr. John Hicks Lanier, Jr. of Palo Alto, California; and Mr. Bryan Alexander Wight of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The bride is a graduate of Westlake High School in Austin, the University of Texas at Austin where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors, and the University of Virginia where she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Anissa is employed by Littler Mendelson, PC as an associate and is an active member of the Junior League of Houston. The groom is a graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston and the University of Texas at Austin where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors in Plan II, and a Masters of Business Administration degree. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Davis is employed by AIM Investments as an equity analyst.
Following a honeymoon trip to the British West Indies islands of Anguilla and Nevis, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
