Miss Mandy Lynn Malone and Mr. Douglas Bradley Loper were united in marriage on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at seven o'clock in the evening at West University United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. John C. Collier with music by organist Bill Bennett. A reception followed at Parasio Maravilla with music provided by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grappino de Nino. A bridesmaids luncheon was given the day of the wedding at Brennan's and was hosted by Betsy Adair and Ann Card.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Frank Malone of Bellaire, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Dauphine Anne Stanford, the late Mr. Richard Jackson Malone, and Ms Sue Mays Malone all of Houston, Texas; and the late Patrick Harris Stanford of Brownsville, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kent Loper, of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Ms. Sonja Ann Cunningham and Mr. John Allan Cunningham of San Antonio, Texas; and Mr. Jack Weldon Loper and the late Mrs. Majorie B. Loper of Houston, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant strapless gown of silk organza designed by Vera Wang of New York. The organza overlay flared gracefully from the waist into a chapel length train. The train was accentuated with a corset style lacing that was extended the length of the gown. The satin inlay was complimented by the bridesmaids oyster A-line gowns.
Ms. Kathleen Louise Lee and Ms. Connor Marie Alden served the bride as maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Ms. Katherine Elizabeth Adair, Ms Lindsey Paige Caven, Ms Maggie Rose Loper, Mrs. Rachael Burns Miclette, and Ms Marjory Hershe Zimmerman.
Mr. Daniel Robert Loper served his brother as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Robert John Geary II, Mr. Michael Patrick Malone, Mr. Mitchell Stanford Malone, Mr. William Fain Oates, Mr. Lester Thompson Stiles, and Mr. Mark Edward Verrett. The groom's ushers were Mr. Richard Evans Bowen II, Mr. Juan Jose Garcia, Mr. William Kenneth Loper, Mr. Blake Hugh Mark, Mr. William Weston Rucker, and Mr. Phillip Ryan Wilkins.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Episcopal High School and of Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Next year she will be employed at Episcopal High School.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Episcopal High School and from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. The groom will be beginning his third year at South Texas College of Law in Houston.
Following a honeymoon to San Francisco, California, Brad and Mandy will reside in Bellaire, Texas.
