Gretchen Gatewood and Adam Withers were united in marriage on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at five o'clock at Tallowood Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerome Smith officiating. Barbara Jones and Lew Zailer provided the music. Soloists were Matthew and Lizi Bailey. Scripture was read by Lauren Mitchell and Ben Fox. A reception with dinner and dancing was held immediately following at Pine Forest Country Club.
The bride's mother hosted a bridal brunch at laMadeleine the morning prior to the wedding. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Maggiano's on the eve of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gatewood of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene GaVette, Mrs. Dorothy Gatewood, the late Mrs. Wanda Murphy and the late Gerald Gatewood all of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Withers of Austin, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marion Withers of Georgetown, Texas, the late Alton Withers, Sr., Mrs. Sylvia Allen of Austin and the late Bob Allen.
Valerie Walker was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Sarah Blue, Lauren Mitchell, Alexa Ryniker, and Tammy Sullivan. House party members were Dana Burnett, Kate Cheng, Katie Henderson, Amanda Hosni, Lisa Howse, and Emily Orchard.
Robert Sandoval was best man, and groomsmen were Ben Fox, Scott Keller, Danny Lilly, and John Simmons. Ushers were Gilbert Alba, Dan Alcozer, Richard Alvarado, Justin Hall, Todd Keller, and John Richie. Alyssa and Cody Finger of Manassas, Virginia, family members of the groom, served as flower girl and ring bearer.
The bride is a graduate of Langham Creek High School in Houston, Texas and Texas A&M University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Engineering in Industrial Distribution. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
The groom is a graduate of Westlake High School in Austin, Texas and Texas A&M University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Engineering in Industrial Distribution. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Adam is employed as an Account Manager for Wilson-Mohr in Dallas, Texas.
After a honeymoon on the Mayan Riviera, Gretchen and Adam will reside in Dallas, Texas.
