Surrounded by loving family and friends, Debra Jane Dees and Michael Edward Autenreith were united in marriage on Saturday, April 5, 2003, at five o'clock in the evening at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Dr. James F. Jackson performed the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Mr. Thomas Jaber and soloist was Mrs. Jody Hendley. Scriptures were read by Miss Darla Jane Breazeale and Miss Jennifer Ann Breazeale, cousins of the bride. A reception followed at the St. Regis Hotel with a dinner buffet and dancing. The day before the wedding, a bridesmaid's luncheon was given at the Houston Racquet Club by longtime friends of the bride's mother. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Colina's.
Debbie is the daughter of Mr. Ben Dees and Mrs. Mona Dees, and Dr. Mike and Peggye Jane Gibson. Michael is the son of Mr. John Autenreith, and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Barbles.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her stepfather, the bride chose a beautiful strapless gown of soft white silk satin. The flowing skirt and train were overlaid with silk organza, and delicate pearl and crystal beading adorned the bodice. The illusion veil extended to the hem of the gown. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses, Calla lillies, tulips and a hand-embellished handkerchief belonging to her maternal grandmother.
Miss Betsy Catherine Dees, sister of the bride, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were dear high school friends Mrs. Caroline Harsh Bennett, Mrs. Margaret Greer Sanders and Mrs. Wendy Williams Spalding, and special college friend Mrs. Leanne Wilcox Ling. Members of the houseparty were Mrs. Dana VanHook, cousin of the bride and Mrs. Kelly Jones Autenreith, sister-in-law of the groom.
Mr. Michael Lee Fuqua and Mr. Matthew Robert Bennett served the groom as Best Men. Groomsmen were Mr. John Richard Autenreith, Mr. Kurt J. Autenreith, and Mr. James Robert Autenreith, brothers of the groom, and Mr. Garner Perry Strickland IV. Ushers were Mr. Kevin VanHook, cousin of the bride, Mr. William Harrison Junell, Mr. James Fredrick Hury, and Mr. David Cassidy Valentine.
Debbie is a graduate of Memorial High School in Houston, and the University of Texas at Austin, where she received a degree in Finance. She is a member of Chi Omega, the Junior League of Houston, and is employed by Williams. Michael also attended Memorial and graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock with a degree in Marketing. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and is employed by John Daugherty Realtors.
Following a cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Houston. Debbie and Michael thank their family and friends for their love and support.
