Kristie Michelle Murphy and George Edward Karutz, Jr. were married December 14, 2002 at Central Christian Church in San Antonio with Rev. Leo R. Schuster III officiating. A brunch reception followed the ceremony at Club Giraud.
The bride is the daughter of Janice Wallace and husband Jerry Don Wallace of Rockwall and Michael W. Murphy and wife Connie Murphy of Mesquite. Kristie graduated from North Garland High School in 1991 and from Texas A&M University in 1995.
The groom is the son of George Edward Karutz and wife Jamie of San Antonio. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1989, received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in 1993, and an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1998. In June of 2002, he received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
The matron of honor was Mrs. Hollis A. Murphy, the bride's grandmother. The maid of honor was Jennifer Lewis. Bride's attendants were Emily Hebert Faust, Natalie Farish Garcia, Annie Neslage McLeod, Alicia Josey Pointer, and the Jr. Bridesmaid was Jacquelyn Maitland, bride's niece. The house party included Jerianne Wallace Land and Kimberly Smith.
The best man was George Karutz, the groom's father. The groomsmen were Jay Gorman, Norman de Greve, Maher Kara, Perry Shankle, and David Wells. Ushers were Zeke Murphy, Jeff Wallace, and Russ Shellhamer. Chris Hite read selected scripture and Justin Parker was the soloist.
After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
