Miss J'Anne Konecny and Mr. Mark Holley Cox were united in marriage on Saturday, September 21, 2002, at sunset in the gardens of Villa Margherita in Mira Porte, Italy. The doublering ceremony was officiated by Reverend Paoulo Brance with music performed by Le Virtuose Veneziane String Quartet and Soloist. A scripture reading was given by Angie Hrncir Henderson. Following the ceremony, a seated dinner was held in the grand salon of the Villa Margherita. On the eve of the wedding, the guests were treated by the bride's parents to a private day tour of Venice, Italy followed by a dinner for all the family and guests, hosted by the groom's family, at Villa Franceschi.
J'Anne is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Samuel Broyles of Houston, Texas and the late Mr. Jerry Newton Konecny of Bryan, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Glen Johnson of Midland, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Frank Konecny of Bryan, Texas. Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart Cox of Memphis, Tennessee. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Franklin Holley of Florala, Alabama and the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Stewart Cox of Ruleville, Mississippi.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her stepfather, J'Anne wore an elegant gown custom designed by Elizabeth Fillmore of New York. The strapless fitted sheath, with chapel train, was overlaid with Italian silk organza that was hand embroidered, detailed with relief rosebuds of silk organza and Swarovski crystals. Complementing the gown, the bride wore a silk illusion cathedral veil sprinkled with crystals on hand embroidered rosebud motif also custom designed by Elizabeth Fillmore. The bride carried a hand-tied European style bouquet of dendrobium orchids.
Miss Cynthia Catherine Scholl of Houston, Texas, served as Maid of Honor. Miss Shallon Michelle Hunter, cousin of the bride, of Austin, Texas, served as bridesmaids. The attendants wore crimson and cognac trumpet gowns by Lazarro and carried hand-tied nosegay bouquets of hydrangeas, roses, and tulips, all in fall colors.
Mr. James Stewart Cox, Jr. and Mr. John Philip Cox, brothers of the groom, both of Birmingham, Alabama, served as Best Men. Greeting the guests as usher was Mr. James Hayden Hunter, of Austin, Texas.
J'Anne attended Second Baptist School in Houston, Texas and graduated from St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Mississippi. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and is currently a member of the Junior League of Nashville. J'Anne is currently employed as a Regional Sales Manager for Portico Collection.
Mark is a graduate of Memphis University School in Memphis, Tennessee and The University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. Mark received his Jurist Doctorate from the University of Mississippi Law School. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Mark is currently employed as a Regional Property Manager for Crown Castle USA.
Following a honeymoon trip to Ravello on the Amalfi coast, Port Ercole on the Italian Rivera, and Rome, the couple will reside in Nashville, Tennessee.
