Miss Keely Windham and Mr. Carl Melvin Carter III were united in marriage on Saturday, September 28, 2002, at eight o'clock in the evening at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas. The Reverend Robert Cecil Shield officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Scripture readings were given by Molly Williamson Montgomery of Houston, Texas. The Lamar Brass Ensemble, directed by Raul Ornelas, and a string ensemble headed by Thomas Schroeder and featuring Ellen Rienstra, provided the music. Soloist Dionne Fontenot was accompanied by Scott Feldhausen, organist. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Beaumont Civic Center with music by the Tip Tops of Mobile, Alabama. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Beaumont Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Bryan Windham of Beaumont. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leonard Pemberton of Blanco, Texas, and the late Eloise Pemberton Cheesman. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Melvin Carter, Jr. of Austin, Texas, formerly of Houston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Stanton Beverly Marsh of Richmond, Texas, and the late Mr. Marsh, and Mrs. Carl M. Carter of Austin, and the late Mr. Carter.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a candlelight silk gown by designer Ulla-Maija, and carried a bouquet of ivory roses.
Serving as maid of honor was Kendle Ruth Ege of Houston, Texas. Bridesmaids were Nicole Franca Brenckmann, Laura Canion Chiles, Jenny Lynn Reese, all of Houston, Stacey Becks Crenshaw, and Stephanie Ann Ross, both of Beaumont, Jill Elizabeth Higgins, and Helene Holden Sned, of Dallas, Amy Ann Hills of Barrington, Illinois, and Helena Nancy Moreno of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Honor attendants were Becky Carter, of Austin, Texas, Heather Young Schrader and Courtney Light Lawhon of Houston, Texas, Channing Walker of Santa Barbara, California, and Jennifer Jill Wiggins of Silsbee, Texas. Miss Isabel Maria Waggoner from Dallas, Texas, served as flower girl, and Anderson Sutton Goodman from Lawton, Oklahoma, served as ring bearer.
Mr. Clay Marshall Carter of Austin, brother of the groom, and Mr. John Stevens Waggoner, Jr. of Dallas, served as best men. The groomsmen were Timothy David Baker, Christian Friedrich Brenckmann, John Edward Busbee, Don Kent Milner, Jr., Thomas Kirk Sides, Scott Allen Strain, all of Houston, Dan Hodges Montgomery, Jr. of Los Angeles, California, and Richard Edward Turcotte of Dallas.
Serving as ushers were Benton Robinson Carter, H. Jackson Carter, Todd Christopher Cole, Paul Jerome Daily, John Nicholas Giannnukos, Thomas Arney Halverson, Scott David Hammer, James Bradford Marsh, Michael David Tapp, Bryan Parker Windham, Farille Schmidler Young, and Angelo Peter Laros.
Keely is a graduate of West Brook High School in Beaumont, and Southern Methodist University in Dallas where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Advertising, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is currently a sales representative for Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals.
Carl, a graduate of Lee High School in Houston, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Texas in Austin where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Silver Spurs. He received an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird, in Glendale, Arizona. He is employed by UBS Warburg Energy.
Following a honeymoon trip to France, Keely and Carl will reside in Houston.
