Miss Ann Elizabeth Wukasch and Mr. Robert Christopher Gamel were united in marriage on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at eight o'clock in the evening at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Divine in Houston. The celebration and blessing of the double ring ceremony was performed by The Reverend Laurens Allen Hall. Organ, harp and trumpet provided the ceremony music. The end of the ceremony was marked by the ringing of the carillon. A scripture reading was given by Mrs. J. Gordon Muir, Jr. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Houston Country Club, with music provided by the Newsboyz of Austin. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grappino di Nino.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Don Charles Wukasch of Houston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Francis Tucker, Jr. of Fort Worth and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Charles Wukasch of Austin. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William Glenn Gamel of Austin and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Prothro McNair of Brownsville and the late Mr. Glenn Gamel of Lampasas and the late Mrs. Johnny Ruth Gamel of Austin.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant gown of antique ivory silk-faced satin designed by Amsale of New York. The slim fitted sheath was covered entirely with reembroidered Alencon lace. The bodice had a modified scoop neckline with delicate spaghetti straps crossing the low scooped back. The skirt fluted slightly below the knee flowing into a sweep train. The bride wore an elbow length veil of ivory illusion held by rosebuds, created by Mrs. Frederick Ryan McCord. The gown and veil were both adorned with scattered crystals.
The bride's mother, Mrs. Linda Tucker Wukasch of Houston, and Mrs. Kelley Easterling Hawkins of Austin served as Matrons of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Christy Clardy Clark of Leesburg, VA, Mrs. Lisa Hirschler Brown of Dallas, Miss Leslie Ann Mayfield of Austin and Miss Elizabeth Kathleen Branan of Houston.
Dr. William Glenn Gamel served his son as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Jamie Dewar Ferguson, Dr. James Thomas Robison IV, Mr. Jules Hamilton Scruggs, Mr. Stewart Robert William Scruggs and Mr. Thomas Gray Twombly, all of Austin. The bride's brother, Mr. Walter Charles Wukasch II, and the groom's brother, Mr. William Glenn Gamel, Jr. served as ushers.
Amelia Greer Brown of Dallas, Madeline Starr Kahl and Stella Katherine Kahl of Leawood, KS, Madeline Idalee Hawkins of Austin, Lauren Patricia Piot and Allison Parker Piot of Dallas and Anne Gamel Donnolley of Houston, niece of the groom, served as flower girls. Master Russell Elliott Linkous IV of Memphis, TN was ring-bearer.
The bridal party included Miss Abigail Lynn Baer, Miss Alexandra King Baer, Miss Nan Elizabeth Barham, Miss Cheryl Lynn Light, Miss Mary Ellen Mebus, Miss Mary Lee Ward, Miss Kelly Anne Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Charles Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Jon Christian Piot and Mr. and Mrs. David Charles Wilson all of Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Elliott Linkous III of Memphis, TN, and Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Paul Morstead of Houston.
The bride is a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Southern Methodist University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She is a teacher at Tarrytown Baptist Children's Center in Austin.
The groom is a graduate of Austin High School in Austin. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta. He received his Master of Business Administration degree and Master of Arts degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is currently employed by Kennedy Wilson, a commercial real estate firm, in Austin.
Following a honeymoon in Belize, Ann and Chris Gamel will reside in Austin, Texas.
