Miss Marci Ross Yates and Mr. Edward Lockwood Moore III were united in marriage on Saturday, September 21, 2002, at seven o'clock in the evening at Trinity Episcopal Church in Houston. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend John R. Bentley, Jr. and the Reverend Nicholas R.D. Dyke. Organist Andrew Bowen, soloist Alison Greene, and trumpeter Don Johnson provided the ceremony music. Mrs. Laurie O'Donnell Tyler, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Joseph E. Self, uncle of the groom, read scriptures. A reception followed at River Oaks Country Club with music by The Ronnie Renfrow Big Band. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Briar Club. The mother of the bride hosted a bridesmaids' luncheon at Brennan's on the day of the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Edward Yates of Spring, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. LaNell Haggart and the late Mr. Duncan Ross Haggart of Houston, Texas, and Mr. George E. Yates and the late Mrs. Juanita Yates of Baytown, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lockwood Moore, Jr. of Spring, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Elizabeth Napper and the late Mr. Lawrence E. Napper, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lockwood Moore, Sr., all of Dallas, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected a strapless gown of silk duchess satin designed by Reem Acra. The bodice was trimmed with beaded embroidery which came to a soft V-cut in the back. The pleated ball gown had a large beaded embroidery appliqué at the bottom of the extended train. A tiara adorned with pearls and crystals held the cathedral length veil worn previously by her sister.
Serving her sister as Matron of Honor was Traci Yates Schluter, of Spring, Texas. Bridesmaids were Miss Charmaine Andrea Ferguson of Tomball, Texas; Miss Corrie Aleece Garrett of Spring, Texas; Mrs. Bridget Anderson Holloway, Miss Bridgett Michelle Overlease, and Mrs. Kelly Voss Schuler, all of Houston, Texas. Miss Creighton Ross Schluter, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. The attendants wore strapless two-piece gowns of silk taffeta designed by Carmen Marc Valvo. They were amethyst in color and adorned at the top with ivory beading.
Members of the house party were Mrs. Kathryn Brummett Barber, cousin-in-law of the bride, of Carthage, Texas; Mrs. Shannon O'Donnell Kroger, cousin of the bride, of Houston, Texas; and Deanna Kay Yates and Susan Lynn Yates, cousins of the bride, of Dallas, Texas.
Serving as Best Man was Edward Lockwood Moore, Jr., father of the groom. Groomsmen were Mr. Lance Ferrell of Carlsbad, California; Mr. Michael Lopez of Houston, Texas; Mr. Stephen Brant Moore, brother of the groom, of San Marcos, Texas; Mr. Jon Christopher Moore, brother of the groom, of Austin, Texas; and Mr. Richard Alan Schluter, brother-in-law of the bride, of Spring, Texas.
Ushers were Mr. Bryant Arthur Holley and Mr. Bruce Alan Schuler of Houston, Texas; Mr. Kenneth Moore of Duluth, Georgia; Mr. Jacob Edward Self, cousin of the groom, of Dallas, Texas; Mr. Jeffrey Howard Todd, cousin of the groom, of Lufkin, Texas; and Mr. Dean Riley Yates, cousin of the bride, of Dallas, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She received her J.D. degree from South Texas College of Law.
The groom, "Ned", is a graduate of Klein High School in Spring, Texas. He studied environmental science at Stephen F. Austin State University and is an orthopedic and pain management consultant.
Following a honeymoon to Tahiti and Bora Bora, Mr. and Mrs. Moore will reside in Houston, Texas.
