Miss Elsa Detering Itz and Dr. Darren Matthew Chapman were united in marriage at seven o'clock in the evening on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Houston Country Club. Dr. John William Lancaster and Rabbi Marc Brownstein officiated at the double ring ceremony. The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Brennan's on Friday evening.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Dillon Itz. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby Claiborne Williams and of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bernard Itz all of Houston, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bryan Chapman of Houston, Texas, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Massman of Corpus Christi, Texas, and of Mrs. Jake Chapman and the late Mr. Jake Chapman of Houston, Texas.
Serving as bridesmaids were Miss Sarah Saunders Itz and Miss Mary Caroline Itz, sisters of the bride, both of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Sarah Johnson Tyler of Grapevine, Texas. The bridal house party included Mrs. Rowena Houghton Dasch of Austin, Texas, Dr. Elise Louisa Sue Kibler of Houston, Texas, Miss Emily Schaumberg of Shreveport, Louisiana, Miss Mary Stremsterfer of Chicago, Illinois, Ms. Laurel Tinsley of St. Louis, Missouri and Dr. Sushma Chilukuri Yalamanchili of New York, New York.
Mr. Bradley Ross Chapman of San Diego, California, brother of the groom, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. William Copenhagen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mr. Andrew Jay Cowen of Tenafly, New Jersey. Ushers included Mr. Alex Alviar of New York, New York, Mr. Jeffrey Scott Chapman of Austin, Texas, Mr. Peter Jansen Creath of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Mr. Briton Leland Kolber of Sherman Oaks, California, Mr. Michael Levy of Houston, Texas, Mr. Clifton Tyler of Grapevine, Texas and Mr. Neil Wizel of New York, New York.
The bride is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Policy Studies and German from Rice University in Houston, Texas and graduated from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. She is currently an attorney with Haynes and Boone, LLP in Richardson, Texas.
The groom is a graduate of Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and is currently a general surgery resident at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
The couple will reside in Dallas, Texas.
