Miss Meredith Lind and Mr. Langston Wilcox Turner were united in marriage on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at seven o'clock in the evening at First Presbyterian Church in Houston. The double ring ceremony was performed by The Reverend William Vanderbloemen. Organist Joby Bell and soloist Melissa Givens provided the ceremony music. Scripture readings were given by Mr. Robert William Stockton and Mrs. Lauren Phillips Blair. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Houston Club, with music provided by Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Brennan's.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Klaus Lind of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. David Hudgins Pinson of Lubbock, Texas, and the late Mr. Pinson and Mrs. Kaspar Lind of Laguna Hills, California, and the late Mr. Lind. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Edward Turner of Austin, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Helen Wilcox Shackelford of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Lloyd Odell Turner of Garland, Texas, and the late Mr. Turner.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected a strapless princess gown of ivory imported satin designed by Richard Glasgow of New York. Two layers of bias cut satin bands encircled the neckline and delicate satin covered bridal buttons and loops extended along the back of the gown all the way to the end of the sweep train. The bride wore a comb embellished with dainty ivory seed pearls from which fell an elegant cathedral veil of ivory illusion, also designed by Richard Glasgow. The veil was trimmed with an ivory band of satin to complement the bodice of her gown.
Miss Katherine Lind of Houston, Texas, served her sister as Maid of Honor. The groom is a graduate of Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He earned his Master's of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He is currently employed by Goldman, Sachs & Co. in Houston, Texas.
Following a honeymoon in Punta Mita, Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Turner will reside in Houston, Texas.
