Miss Katherine Elizabeth Powell and Mr. Jeffrey Richard Erxleben were united in marriage on Saturday, September 7, 2002, at seven o'clock at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Music was provided by the Accent Chamber Music string quintet. A reception followed at Brennan's, with music by The Works. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Basil's.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Powell of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lorene Miller and the late Mr. Horace Miller of Denison, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Powell of Largo, Florida. The groom is the son of Ms. Ginny Ostrom of Palos Verdes, California and Mr. Richard Erxleben of Dallas, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ostrom of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mrs. Sally Erxleben and the late Mr. Walter Erxleben of Batesville, Indiana.
The bride selected a gown of white silk and silk organza. The silk strapless bodice had a slightly dropped waistline with a full circular chapel length train featuring three layers of banded organza overlays. Her multi-tiered chapel length veil was held in place by a beautiful headpiece of tiny pearls and Austrian crystals. The bride wore a double-strand of family heirloom pearls and pearl and diamond earrings "borrowed" from her mother.
Miss Anne Powell, sister of the bride of Houston, Texas, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Dawsey Dorr of New York, New York, Miss Julie Camp of Dallas, Texas, and Miss Ericka Erxleben, sister of the groom of Dallas, Texas.
Members of the house party included Mrs. Kathy Scucchi of Dallas, Texas, Miss Meredith Wilson of San Diego, California, Miss Andrea Roberts of New York, New York, and Miss Kathleen Gagnon of Grapevine, Texas.
Mr. Trey Bandy of Phoenix, Arizona served the groom as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Austin Adami of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Jason Lin of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Rich Nichols of Newport Beach, California, and Mr. Charlie Powell, brother of the bride of Houston, Texas.
Katie is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston, Texas. She is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems.
Jeff is a graduate of Palos Verdes High School in Palos Verdes, California. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and Real Estate Finance.
Following a honeymoon in Italy, Jeff and Katie will reside in Dallas, Texas.
