Miss Elizabeth René Dorsey and Mr. Zachary Brown Fertitta were united in marriage on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at seven o'clock in the evening at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Kenneth R. Dimmick. Scripture readings were given by Mr. Shelby Longoria and The Honorable Michael T. McSpadden.
Music for the candlelight service was performed by the Houston Children's Chorus, under the direction of Mr. Stephen Roddy, Mrs. Ann Frohbieter, organist, Mr. Daniel W. Shipman, trumpeter and the Dave Zeger String Quartet.
A reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Houston. Hosted by the bride's parents, the celebration began with a formal seated dinner followed by dancing. Music was provided by The David Caceres band and Eclipse, both of Houston. The flowers for the evening were beautifully arranged by Mark Miller. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Grappino di Nino.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Dorsey of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eduardo Longoria of Laredo, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rawls Dorsey of Austin, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bowden Connally III and Mr. and Mrs. Julian Fertitta, Jr., both of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ann Brown and the late Mr. Ralph Lawrence Brown Jr. and the late Dr. and Mrs. Julian Fertitta all of Beaumont, Texas.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a couture chapel length gown of ivory organza and hand embroidered alencon lace designed by Vera Wang. She carried a delicate bouquet of lily of the valley.
The bride's attendants wore formal gowns of crepe and satin in a soft champagne color accented with elegant bouquets of calla lilies.
Miss Adriana Kristina Banks, of Houston, served her cousin as Maid of Honor. Attendants to the bride were Mrs. Eden Richardson Beebe of Fort Worth, Texas; Miss Laura Heath Ebeling of Houston; Miss Ellyn Elizabeth Holbert of Dallas, Texas; Miss Jessica Ann Judd, and Miss Leisa Ladin, both of New York, New York; Mrs. Kelly Carlton Linsky of Dallas, Texas; Miss Kimberly Anne Parker of Houston; and Miss Emily Reid Richardson of Dallas, Texas. Miss Adrienne Dorothy Longoria of Dallas, Texas and Miss Sarah Louise Longoria of Austin, Texas also served their cousin as bridesmaids. Miss Elizabeth Rachel Susman and Miss Emily Catherine Susman, cousins of the bride, served as junior bridesmaids.
Mr. Julian Joseph Fertitta III and Mr. Jason Lawrence Fertitta of Houston, served their brother as best men. Attendants to the groom were Mr. James Thomas Dorsey Jr. and Mr. Robert Edward Dorsey, brothers of the bride; Mr. Jay Temple Brown, Mr. John Bowden Connally IV, Mr. Patrick Lawrence Elkins, Mr. Scott Aaron Gordon, Mr. Thad Horan Armstrong, all of Houston, Texas; and Mr. Gregg Layton Snyder of Dallas, Texas. The ring bearer was Mr. Julian Joseph Fertitta IV, nephew of the groom, of Houston, Texas.
Members of the house party included Mrs. Courtney Hill Fertitta, Mrs. Stephanie Gibbs Fertitta, Mrs. Courtney Roseman Brynes, all of Houston, Texas; Miss Kristen Janeen Cannon of New York, New York; Miss Nell Francis Connally of Austin, Texas; Mrs. Claudine Moore Hendee of San Diego, California; Miss Kelly Lee Patin of Jackson, Mississippi; and Mrs. Alison Ann Ryan of Round Rock, Texas. Ushers included Mr. Bernardo Longoria of Monterrey, Mexico; Mr. Andrew Friedman of New York, New York; Mr. Kenneth Robert O'Donnell of Dallas, Texas; and Mr. Brandon O'Neil Meyers of Houston.
Elizabeth is a 1995 graduate of Memorial High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, Television, and Film from Texas Christian University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Zachary is a 1995 graduate of Episcopal High School of Houston. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He also received a Juris Doctor of Law from South Texas College of Law in Houston.
Following the honeymoon to Punta Mita, Mexico, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
