Miss Kathryn Marie Clinton and Mr. John William Kobe were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday, September 7, 2002, at seven-thirty in the evening at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Houston. The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Steve Cooley. Readings were given by Mr. Bill Dennis and Miss Nicole Mainguy. Music was provided by The Fort Bend Boy's Choir and Organist Norman Sutphin. After the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at The Junior League of Houston, with music provided by The Manna Band. On Friday night, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Briar Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Posie Manuel Clinton III, of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde A. Wilson of Houston, Mrs. Evelyn Edwards of Granbury, Texas, and the late Mr. Posie Manuel Clinton, Jr.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Richard Kobe of Coppell, Texas, and the late Laura Lynne Kobe. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Starr of Northfield, Vermont, Ms. Julia Kobe of Cleveland, Ohio, and the late Mr. Bill Kobe.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Katie wore an ivory silk strapless ball gown designed by Vera Wang of New York. A lilac silk taffeta sash cascaded from the waist of the full box-pleated skirt. Her multi-tier cathedral length veil was held in place by an Austrian crystal tiara borrowed from her cousin, Mrs. Kara Clinton. Attendants to the bride were in formal ivory and lilac empire style gowns designed by Vera Wang.
Katie was attended by her sister, Mrs. Sarah Brady, Matron of Honor, and Miss Laura McQuilling, Maid of Honor, both of Houston. The bridesmaids were Miss Lauren Anderson; Mrs. Angie Clinton, sister-in-law of the bride; Miss Kelly Covey; Miss Laura Wald; Miss Carrie West; Miss Cassie Crabtree; Miss Meghan Haverland; and Miss Rebecka Wood, all of Houston; and Miss Gretchen Gideon of Austin. The house party included Miss Nicole Mainguy, Miss Christine Mainguy, Miss Falon Wildrick, and Miss Ann Marie Winsor, cousins of the bride. The flower girl was Miss Katherine Von Blon, cousin of the bride.
Mr. Bill Kobe, brother of the groom, of The Colony, Texas, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Paul Ankeney of Lantana, Texas; Mr. Jeff Butler; Mr. Posie Clinton IV, brother of the bride; Mr. Matthew Brady, brother-in-law of the bride; Mr. Tripp Montalbo; Mr. Will Bateman; and Mr. Lee Russell, all of Houston; Mr. Bill Merritt of Dallas; Mr. Kaleb O'Rear of Denton; and Mr. Jason Mills of League City. Ushers included Mr. Peter Mainguy and Mr. Nolan Mainguy, cousins of the bride; Mr. Jason Jayroe, Mr. Jeff Riojas, and Mr. Kevin Mueller. Ringbearer was Master Michael Von Blon, cousin of the bride.
Katie is a graduate of Memorial High School. She attended Texas Tech University and is a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She is currently a provisional member of The Junior League of Houston and is employed with Continental Airlines.
John is a graduate of Denton High School and The University of Texas, where he received a BA in Biology. He is a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and is employed with Barton Protective Services.
Following a honeymoon to the Mayan Riviera, the couple will be at home in Houston.
The bride's parents will be recouping at their weekend home celebrating that all their children are now happily married.
