Miss Sarah Rae Broussard and Mr. Charles Alfred McCoy were united in marriage on Saturday, August 17, 2002, at seven o'clock in the evening at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. The candlelight double ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend John Cahoon and dedicated in loving memory of the late Mrs. Mary Alma Grant Holy, Mr. Paul Denis Broussard, Jr., Ms. Doris Outterside Broussard, Mr. Alfred Walter Wittig, and Mrs. Eulalia Davis McCoy. Readers were Mrs. Sally Holy, Mrs. Patricia Peltier and Mrs. Sonia Jones. The Crossbearer was Mrs. Judy Melnor. Music was provided by organist and pianist Ms. Jenny Kwon, cantors Mr. Stephen A. Sloper and Mrs. Debbie Medellin, and the St. Cecilia Chamber Choir. A reception followed at Lakeside Country Club with music provided by Mr. Sheppard Gee. On the eve of the Wedding, a Bridesmaid luncheon was hosted at Champions Golf Club by the Bride's aunts and family friends: Mrs. Judy Holy, Mrs. Sally Holy, Mrs. Patricia Holy, Mrs. Judy Melnar, and Mrs. Barbara McMahan. The Groom's parents hosted a rehersal dinner that evening at Las Alamedas Restaurant.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul L. Broussard of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Ernest Holy of Burton, Texas, and the late Mrs. Mary Alma Holy and the late Mr. Paul D. Broussard, Jr., and the late Mrs. Doris Outterside Broussard. The groom is the son of Ms. Clarann Wittig McCoy and Mr. Charles McCoy of Houston. He is the grandson of the late Mr. Alfred Walter Wittig and Mrs. Bernice Raun Wittig of El Campo, Texas, and Mr. Charles Ray McCoy of Dell City, Texas, and the late Mrs. Eulalia Davis McCoy.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected an understated, elegant gown of ivory ziberline designed by Vera Wang of New York. The sleeveless modified a-line gown featured a halter neckline and a slight keyhole opening at the back. At the top and bottom of the keyhole were dainty flat bows with streamers. The skirt had a distinctive tulip shape in the back which gracefully fell to a brush train. To compliment her gown, the bride wore a multi-tier cathedral length veil of ivory illusion edged with a flat ric-rack trim and a beautiful headpiece of tiny pearls and Austrian crystals.
She wore a pearl bracelet and drop pearl earrings made from the same strand worn by her mother at her wedding and presented to her by the groom. She also had her grandmother's (Mrs. Mary Alma Holy) wedding ring pinned to her dress.
The bride's maid of honor was Miss Amy Leicht, her lifetime friend. Bridesmaids were Miss Jane "Pepper" Barlow, Mrs. Christine Duncan, sister of the groom, Miss Megan Holy, cousin of the bride, Miss Kelly Sheehan, Miss Jenny Stewart, and Miss Evelyn Stone. Mr. Chris Chance, the lifetime friend of the groom, served as the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Kirk Bingham, Mr. Mike Broussard, brother of the bride, Mr. J.B. Duncan, brother-in-law of the groom, Mr. Robert Pereira, Mr. Jason McClintock and Mr. Garrison Gadeke, cousin of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of St. Agnes Academy and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and her Master of Science degree in Accounting at Texas A&M University in 2002. She will begin her professional career with Hein & Associates LLP in the Galleria office in Houston.
The groom is in his third year at Texas A&M University where he is pursuing a degree in Agribusiness. He was previously employed for several years before college at the Westinghouse Company.
Following their honeymoon on the island of Maui, Mr. and Mrs. McCoy will reside in Houston.
