Miss Melanie Lynn Kilgore and Mr. David James McTaggart were united in marriage on Saturday, January 26, 2002 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houston. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Father Jefferson Thompson. Organist, Carolyn Mattax, soloist, Carlos Nassar and trumpeter, Warren Maas, provided music. The bride's aunt, Mrs. Pamela Erickson, the groom's cousin, Mrs. Elizabeth Perkinson and friend, Mr. Wayne Clawater, gave readings for the mass. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Historic Magnolia Ballroom. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Houston Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry James Kilgore of Kingwood. She is the granddaughter of the late Robert Lockheart Reid and Mrs. Dorese Reid of Houston, and of the late Mr. Robert Kilgore and the late Loretta Kilgore of Los Angeles, CA.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. David Manly McTaggart of Waco. He is the grandson of the late Mr. James W. Jackson and Mrs. Betty Jackson of Hastings, NE and the late Dr. and Mrs. William Bernard McTaggart of Fort Dodge, IA.Given in marriage by her parents, the bride selected a candlelight white silk and satin gown designed by Olga Cassini. The A-line style gown was worn strapless with Cornelli embroidery, crystals, and pearls that encircled the bodice. The gown widened past the waist and swept into a chapel length train. To complement her gown, she wore a tiara of fine crystals.
The bride's sister Miss Melissa Ann Kilgore, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Tiffany Vermillion of Spring, the groom's sister, Mrs. Mary Beth Velasquez, of Carrollton, Mrs. Elizabeth Chapmond of Sanger, Mrs. Julie Flynn of Houston, and Mrs. Allison Blackstock of Waco.
The groom's brother Mr. Michael McTaggart, of Waco, served as Best Man. Groomsmen included Mr. Tom Walsh, Mr. Steve Sieker, Mr. Jack Civa, all of Dallas, Mr. Stuart Brooks of New York, and Mr. Walt McClure of Memphis, TN.
Serving as ushers were Mr. Steven Jansma of San Antonio, and the groom's cousin, Mr. Andrew Schmad of Omaha, NE. Children escorts were the groom's nephews, Michael and Christopher Velasquez of Carrollton.
The bride is a graduate of Kingwood High School. She received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Sam Houston State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Melanie is employed by Hart Publications as a marketing manager.
The groom is a graduate of Reicher Catholic High School in Waco. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Baylor University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Baylor University School of Law. David is currently a partner at the Houston law firm of Cruse, Scott, Henderson & Allen, L.L.P.
Following a honeymoon to California, Mr. and Mrs. McTaggart will reside in Houston.
