Mary Christie Gallagher and Raul Daniel Vega were united in marriage on Saturday, January 26, 2002 at three o'clock in the afternoon at St. Michael Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The wedding ceremony and mass were celebrated by Reverend Joseph B. Courtney, C.S.B.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Houstonian Hotel. Music was provided by Mango Punch. The groom and his family hosted a rehearsal supper on the eve of the wedding at the couple's new home in Memorial.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brian Gallagher of Olean, New York, formerly of Houston. The groom is the son of Dr. Raul Vega Schoemaker and Mrs. Emilaura Tissieres of Lima, Peru.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of platinum silk peau d'soi by Ines Di Santo.
Miss Molly Scanlon of Cleveland, Ohio, served as Maid of Honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Melissa Vega, sister of the groom, of Lima Peru, Miss Clare Christie, of Cleveland, Ohio and Miss Cheryl Califf, Miss Toni Craig, Miss Judy Deneau, Miss Stephanie Sessions and Mrs. Angelica Morales of Houston.
Mr. Eduardo Vega of Austin served his brother as Best Man. The groomsmen were Mr. John B. Gallagher, brother of the bride, Mr. Forest Withrow, Mr. Eric Runge, Mr. Mario Reyna, Mr. Norman Ehrentraut of Houston, Mr. Daniel Graham of Henderson, Texas and Mr. Charlie Lamont of Twenty-nine Palms, California.
Assisting at the nuptial mass were Readers, Miss Michelle Fuller and Mrs. Stacy Vega, sister-in-law of the groom, and Mrs. Leila Siena.
The bride is a graduate of St. Agnes Academy of Houston and St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana and The University of Houston Law Center. Mary is practicing law as a partner in the firm of Califf & Vega, P.C.
Raul attended the University of Houston and is employed as a Mechanical Engineer with Mullins and Associates.
After a wedding trip to Hawaii the couple will make their home in Houston.
