Miss Ashley Ellayne Gillespie and Mr. Gary Arnold Scott were united in marriage on Saturday, January 19, 2002, at six o'clock in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend R. Lee McKinzie. Organist Paul Meier, the Accent Chamber Music flute quartet, and soloist Lesley Sisk provided music for the ceremony. The reception, hosted by the bride's parents, followed in the Grand Salon at the Omni Houston Hotel with music by Rick Marcel and Radiance. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Pappadeaux on the Waterfront in Seabrook, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lovie C. Gillespie of Houston. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earnest (Albertha) Gillespie of Midland, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Dickerson of Pearland, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David F. Scott of Abilene, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William A. Scott, Sr. of Rochester, New York, and the late Dr. and Mrs. C.R. Walker of San Angelo, Texas.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents, and was escorted by her father. A host of the couple's family and friends served as wedding attendants and participants.
The bride is a graduate of the High School for Health Professions in Houston. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health from Texas A & M University, a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is employed as a physician assistant at Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas, Inc.
The groom is a graduate of Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas A & M University, and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and is the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Conroe.
Following a honeymoon to the southern Caribbean, the couple will reside in The Woodlands, Texas.
