Miss Michele Elizabeth Conlon and Mr. Eric Brent Friedman were united in marriage December 29, 2001 at seven o'clock in the evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston, Texas. Dr. Henry Strobel officiated the double-ring candlelight ceremony. Scripture and verse were read by Miss Elizabeth Josephine Strobel. Music was provided by the Avalon Music Quartet. Dinner and dancing, hosted by the bride's parents, followed with music by the Ed Gerlach Orchestra. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a dinner at the Old Commercial National Bank Building in Downtown Houston with music by Yvonne Washington.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael William Conlon of Houston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Peter Conlon of Columbia, South Carolina and Mrs. Cecilia Cario of St. Petersburg, Florida and the late Mr. Gasper Cario. The groom is the son of Ms. Barbara Robins Friedman and Mr. and Mrs. J. Kent Friedman of Houston. He is the grandson of Mrs. Sylvia Robins and the late Mr. Herbert Robins of Houston and the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Friedman of Biloxi, Mississippi.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown of Alencon lace over silk organza designed by Ron Lovece of New York. The off-the-shoulder neckline was adorned with hand-rolled roses. Her cathedral length veil was of ivory silk illusion held by a headpiece of hand-rolled rosettes and Alencon lace.
Miss Stacia Kathleen Conlon of New York City served her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Alison Friedman Belcher, Miss Julie Anne McClure, Mrs. Sarah Pennington Tropoli, Mrs. Elizabeth Friedman Walters, all of Houston; Miss Shannan Marie Boyle of Washington D.C.; and Mrs. Victoria Hazemey Giller of Columbus, Ohio. The flower girls were Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Belcher and Miss Eva Elyse Robins, both of Houston.
Mr. Andrew Earl Friedman of New York City served his brother as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. George Louis Belcher, Mr. Spencer Neumann, Mr. Kevin Scott Robins, and Mr. Michael Dale Walters, all of Houston. Ushers were Mr. William Gregory Young and Mr. Peter Aristedes Tropoli, both of Houston. The ring bearers were Brian Browning Arabie of Austin and Ryan William Friedman of Houston.
Michele is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is finishing a Masters in Public Affairs at the Lyndon Baines Johnson School at the University of Texas and is currently a policy analyst for the Urban Affairs Committee at the Texas House of Representatives.
Brent is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Houston. He attended Boston University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Houston. He is currently completing his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin while pursuing a career in real estate development.
After a honeymoon in Thailand and upon completion of their degrees, the couple will reside in Houston.
