Hughes - Quy

Miss Traci Janet Hughes
Weds
Lt. David Christopher Quy

Traci Janet Hughes and David Christopher Quy were united in marriage on Saturday, December 29, 2001, at seven o'clock in the evening at Chapelwood United Methodist Church. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Wick Stuckey. The scripture reading was given by Shay Gilmore. Music for the ceremony was provided by the Chapelwood Handbells Choir, organist Tom Jaber, trumpeter Eric Bettner, and soloists Sara Welch and Brandon Stanley. A reception hosted by the bride's parents followed at The Houstonian with music by the Festive Trio and Taboo of Austin, Texas. Ms. Martha Gilmore, family friend of the bride, hosted a bridesmaid's luncheon the day before the wedding at the Rainbow Lodge. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Las Alamedas.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hughes of Katy, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Gwendolyn Hughes of Elkton, Virginia, and the late Rembert Hughes and Mrs. Joyce Wilson of Woodbridge, Virginia, and the late Eddie Wilson. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride chose an elegant gown designed by Lazaro of New York. The sculpted bodice featured jeweled spaghetti straps and a dropped waist. Intricate beaded embroidery in soft silver covered the bodice which was trimmed at the neck and hip with small jewels. A full tulle skirt fell from the dropped waistline and swept into a chapel length train. Rhinestones sparkled in the layers of tulle. The bride's ensemble was complete with the addition of a hand-crafted tiara of silver, pearls, and Swarovski crystals.

Ms. Shelley Williamson of Austin, Texas, was the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Cele Joplin of Lubbock, Texas, Miss Kelly Quy of Houston, Texas, Miss Kimberly Ellison of Washington, D.C., Miss Lindsay Sowa of Chicago, Illinois, Miss Alison Ledbetter of Houston, Texas, and Miss Ruth Ramsey of Houston, Texas.
