Jessica Rogers Taylor, a daughter of Deborah M. Taylor and Robert W. Taylor of Charlestown, Ma., was married last evening to Michael O'Mary, the son of Rosemary and John Michael O'Mary of Katy, Texas. The Rev. Susan Richmond performed the Episcopal candlelight ceremony at the Old North Church in Boston, which was followed by a reception at the Harvard Faculty Club in Cambridge.
Mrs. O'Mary, 23, graduated from Harvard College in 1999 and is presently a candidate for a law degree at Boston College Law School where she is President of the International Law Society and a staff writer for the Law Review. She plans to be a Summer Associate at Ropes & Gray during the summer of 2002. The bride's mother raised two daughters while traveling the world with her husband for more than twenty years, living in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Indonesia, Norway, Oman and United Arab Emirates. Presently, she is employed as a sales associates for Priscilla of Boston. Her father is the Director of Business Development for IHRDC, a Boston based energy consulting and management training firm. He previously worked twenty-five years of international service for the Halliburton Company.
Mr. O'Mary, a 2000 graduate of Harvard College, is currently Special Assistant to the President of Harvard University. He previously served as a researcher in the office of First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at the White House and served as advance team leader for Tipper Gore during the 2000 Presidential campaign. The groom's parents were longtime international expatriates. His mother, born in Peru, worked for a number of years in Dubai as a marketing and sales representative, the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The groom's father is retired after a long international tenure in a number of senior positions with M-I Drilling Fluids. The groom's father was five consecutive times the club champion of the international renowned Emirates Golf Club in Dubai. The groom's grandmother is Victoria De Figueroa of Lima, Peru.
The bride and groom first met, according to family lore, as playmates in Miss Erlene's toddler's playgroup in Al Kobar, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1980. The couple met again in 1995 in The Hague, Netherlands, during the Model United Nations annual conference. Jessica was leading her school's delegation from the International School of Stavanger, Norway, and Michael was the conference's Deputy Secretary General and a student at the American School of Dubai. The couple then met again in the Fall of 1995 during their freshman year at Harvard. The couple plans a quiet honeymoon in Bermuda and will continue to reside in the Boston area.
