Miss Erin Aubrey Jones and Mr. Wil Cummings Brown were united in marriage on Saturday, January 5, 2002, at half after seven o'clock in the evening at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Dr. James Wendell Moore, with a scripture reading offered by Mrs. Brandy Bel Ray, cousin of the bride. The Texas Boys Choir, under the direction of Jerry Bierschenk, Accent Chamber Music, Mr. Dan Shipman, trumpeter, and Mr. Rob Landes, organist, performed music for the candlelight ceremony. A reception followed at Lakeside Country Club, hosted by the bride's parents, where guests danced to the music of ELS of New Orleans. At the request of the bride, The Interns and The Shadows, comprised of Mr. Reid Farrell (lead guitar), Mr. Jackie Durrett (vocals), Mr. Rusty Dobson (drums), Mr. Graham Hill (bass), Mr. David Hoffman (keyboards), and the bride's father (rhythm guitar) made a special reunion appearance. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted an elegant rehearsal dinner at La Colombe d'Or.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Neill Jones of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Olive Smith Bel of Crowley, Louisiana, Mr. Edward Thomas Bel, Junior of Houston, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas Jones of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lee Brown of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Raymond Eugene Doubet and the late Mr. Raymond Eugene Doubet of Peoria, Illinois, the late Mr. Alton Brown of Midland, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Searing Ward East of Austin, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an exquisite couture gown of ivory silk Duchesse by contemporary designer Ulla-Maija of New York. The elegant hand-embroidered bodice was accentuated with tiny silver crystals. The unique full skirt, with asymmetrical draping in the front and back, flowed into a chapel length train. The bride's veil, which extended beyond her train, was adorned with tiny mirrored crystals and was fastened with a delicate crystal and pearl headpiece.
The bridesmaids were elegantly attired in two-piece platinum gowns of satin-backed taffeta. The gowns featured a square neckline and a full, a-line skirt accented by a dramatic bustle.
Miss Eileen Amanda Jones, of Houston, Texas, served her sister as Maid of Honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Miss Katie Blair Bel, cousin of the bride, and Miss Catherine Elizabeth Meason, both of Houston, Texas; Miss Kristin Elizabeth Kirk, of Austin, Texas; Mrs. Katherine Eve Nazif, of New York, New York; Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkinson Hoskins, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Miss Stacey Kathryn Cook, Mrs. Melissa McGinty Eakes, Miss Julie Muslow, Miss Marisa Katherine Petersmith, and Miss Katherine Wade Ruffin, all of Dallas, Texas. Serving as flower girl was Miss Olivia Marianne Harding, cousin of the bride, of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Members of the bride's house party were Miss Emily Claire Brock, Miss Kathryn Keely Colson, and Miss Catherine Crossan Grumbles, all of Atlanta, Georgia; Miss Allison Elizabeth Cerrone, of Dallas, Texas; and Miss Amy Nicole Williams, of Washington, D.C.
Mr. William Lee Brown, father of the groom, served as Best Man. Serving as groomsmen were Mr. Jed Alton Brown, of Laredo, Texas, and Mr. Doak Doubet Brown, of Houston, Texas, brothers of the groom; Mr. Jason Patrick Dillee, Mr. Louis Monroe Pearce IV, Mr. Christopher Rowan Pitts, and Mr. Jeffrey Powell Zarr, all of Houston, Texas; Mr. John Calvin Oliver IV and Mr. John Todd Peebles, both of Austin, Texas; Mr. Christopher Michael Harrison, of Dallas, Texas; and Mr. Miles Bartlett Loveless, of New York, New York. Serving as ring bearers were Master William Walker Brown, nephew of the groom, of Laredo, Texas, and Master Andrew John Harding, cousin of the bride, of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Serving as ushers were Mr. Robert Newton Ross III, of Houston, Texas; Mr. Reid Blair Fleming, Mr. Charles Wyatt-Brown Neuhaus, and Mr. Forrest Jacob Wynn, all of Austin, Texas; and Mr. Charles Patrick Pate, Junior of College Station, Texas.
Erin is a 1996 graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. She graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Business Administration, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Erin is currently a second-year law student at The University of Texas School of Law.
Wil is a 1995 graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. He attended Texas Christian University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and graduated from Texas A&M University having earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science. Wil is currently employed as an Assistant Superintendent with Jefferson Properties Incorporated.
Following a honeymoon trip to the Whistler Resort, in British Columbia, Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Brown will reside in Austin, Texas.
