Miss Sarah Alice Bush and Mr. Ryan Patrick McKenney were united in marriage on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at seven in the evening at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The candlelight double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Dr. James Bankston. Music was arranged by organist Robert Brewer. Immediately following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the St. Regis Hotel with music provided by David Caceres. The day before the wedding, family friend Mrs. Stephen Brown and her daughter Courtney Brown hosted a bridesmaid's luncheon at their home. On the eve of the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Warren McKenney, parents of the groom, hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grappino di Nino's.
Sarah Alice is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Bush of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. Leon Bush of Houston and the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Hansel of Lancaster, Ohio.
Ryan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren P. McKenney of Boerne, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren P. McKenney of San Antonio, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack F. Dalton of Austin, Texas.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Sarah Alice wore an elegant couture gown of silk Duchesse satin, designed by Priscilla of Boston. The gown, cut in a princess silhouette, was appliquéd with motifs of reembroidered Alençon lace, framing the strapless neckline. The Aline skirt fell to slipper length in the front and swept into a magnificent train. A band of exquisite, deep scalloped lace marked the entire hem. All of the lace was sprinkled with brilliant Austrian crystals. A delicate tiara of scrolled silver, set with clustered crystal blossoms, held her elbow length veiling of silk illusion, which framed her face and shoulders.
Miss Susan Elizabeth Bush, sister of the bride, of Houston, Texas, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Michelle Desmarais Bush, sister-in-law of the bride, of San Francisco, California; Mrs. Kristen McKenney Baggett, sister of the groom, of San Antonio, Texas; and Mrs. Anna Henson Hall, of Wilmington, Delaware.
Mr. Patrick Jason Dempsey of Austin, Texas served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Mr. Stuart Garrison Bush, brother of the bride, of San Francisco, California; Mr. Nicholas James Baggett, brother-in-law of the groom, of San Antonio, Texas; and Mr. Renick Hoover Smith, of Bellview, Colorado.
Members of the house party included Miss Krista Danielle deIpolyi, of Austin, Texas; Mrs. Leslie Goodman Berg, of New York; Miss Wendy Lynn Shear of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Alix Borsch Duchouquette, of Littleton, Colorado; Mrs. Caren Vaughan Wagner, Miss Rachel Lee Stiver, and Miss Michele Lynn Diana, all of Chicago, Illinois.
Ushers were Mr. William Gregory Savage, of Houston, Texas; Mr. Carrie Seth Fowler, of Fort Worth, Texas; Mr. Matthew Drew Harvey, of Temple, Texas; and Mr. Zachary Larrison Hall, of Wilmington, Delaware.
Sarah Alice is a graduate of St. John's School in Houston, Texas and the University of Texas in Austin, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She is currently employed with Schlumberger.
Ryan is a graduate of Boerne High School in Boerne, Texas and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and was President of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He received his Masters in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston and his Masters in Business Administration from the Bauer School of Business.
Following a honeymoon in Fiji, the couple will reside in London, England.
