Miss Mary Cunningham Oxford of Beaumont and Mr. David Russell Colley, formerly of Beaumont, were united in a double ring ceremony on November 24, 2001 at seven o'clock in the evening at Saint Anthony Cathedral in Beaumont. Reverend Jeremiah J. McGrath officiated. Ceremony music was provided by Paragon Strings and Brass Ensemble. The music ministers were Pam and Roger Bemis. The readers for the ceremony were Carrie Lea Malach of Beaumont, cousin of the groom and Virginia Oxford Thompson of Houston, aunt of the bride. The bride and groom were escorted out of the cathedral by bagpipers from The Lone Star Pipe Band. Dinner and dancing followed at a garden reception at the third generation family home of the bride's father. The weekend festivities began at a seated Rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents at Bryan's 797 in the historic Old Town district.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Mary Francelia Crittenden of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Oxford III of Beaumont. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Oxford and Mrs. Butler Purnell Crittenden, junior and the late Mr. Crittenden, all of Beaumont. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Delaney Colley of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is the grandson of Mrs. R.D. Colley and the late Mr. Colley of Beaumont and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stengell of Russellville, Kentucky.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gown of candlelight silk zibeline overlaid with candlelight silk satin organza. A delicate mille fleur beading was applied to the bodice of her gown which was specially designed for her by Michael Faircloth of Dallas. Attached to the chapel length train was an heirloom Belgium lace veil previously worn by the bride's paternal grandmother. In a tribute to her paternal grandmother, the bride's father wore a kilt made from the Cunningham plaid, as were the groom's and ring bearer's trousers.
The Maid of Honor was Virginia Barrett Oxford of Sammamish, Washington, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Meredith Bishop of Abilene, Tracy Newlin Dunseith of Houston, Laura Sue Hemmy of Seattle, Washington, Keely Jones Kinsel and Lindsay Nicole Leger, both of Beaumont, Lacey Smith Liner of Houston and Mary Francelia Oxford of Beaumont, sister of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Adriana Victoria Oxford and Alaina Danielle Oxford, both of Beaumont, sisters of the bride. The houseparty attendants were S
eawillow Dixon Edwards and Anna Cordts Edwardson, both of Beaumont and Anne Marie Smith of San Antonio. The flower girl was Gabriella Elizabeth Oxford of Beaumont, sister of the bride.
The Best Man was Rob Delaney Colley of Bowling Green, Kentucky, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Brian Howard Cansler of Katy, Jason Sewell Croley, Bernard Daleo, Jr., Hubert Oxford IV, brother of the bride, Spencer Laine Park and Mark Christopher Sparks, all of Beaumont and E. Christopher Ruble of San Antonio. The ring bearer was Raymond Lloyd Brown III of Houston, second cousin of the bride.
The bride and groom graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School in Beaumont. The bride graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Science from Texas A&M University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University and is in her residency year at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The groom is a graduate of Lamar University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He is currently a supervisor at GAB Robins North America in San Antonio.
Following their honeymoon to New York, the couple will reside in San Antonio.
